The Soul Reborn: From Silence to Sovereignty chapter 85
Added 2025-08-13 20:12:49 +0000 UTCChapter 85: Invitation to Another World
“So, let me lay it all out,” I began while settling onto the edge of my oversized lounge chair with Lyra cradled in my arms. “I used to live in another world, but one day… I died. Somehow, I ended up here, in this body. The soul that originally owned it also died, but she didn’t move on. She stayed, trapped inside for a while, watching as I turned around the life that was once hers.”
Across from me, Elowen sat frozen in her seat like her brain malfunctioned. I did just give her a very short, abbreviated version of my story.
“But it gets crazier,” I said with a smirk, because of course it does. “Eventually, her soul reincarnated, and you want to guess where she ended up?”
Before she could even answer, I lifted Lyra up into the air, grinning proudly.
“Yeah… Right here, my adorable daughter was the original owner of this body. After she became the baby in my stomach, the body fully became mine. Are you following?”
Livia let out a long exhale as she massaged her temples.
“I knew she wasn’t going to ease her into it.”
Elowen was still staring, her mouth slightly open. The look on her face said she was struggling to process everything I had just dropped on her.
“Wait… wait, wait… wait.” She finally managed to speak, obviously struggling. “So… you died in another world? And now you’re here? The daughter in your arms is the original owner of that body?!” She blinked rapidly. “You’re serious?”
“As a sword to the throat,” I said with a shrug. “Don’t worry, I didn’t tell you the weirdest part. But that’s because it doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Which is?” she asked, eyes narrowing with curiosity.
I leaned back with a tired sigh. “Let’s just say I used to be someone very different. But I’ve already let that go and accept this life as my own.”
Livia glanced at me, her expression softening a little. “She’s not wrong. Took her awhile, but she grew into it quite well.”
Elowen, to her credit, didn’t scream or run. She just… processed it slowly. Her gaze turned toward Lyra and then back to me.
“So… You must be from a world far beyond this one. That’s how you knew all those advanced teachings. It must have also taught you how to teach, which is why you’re so far ahead of us.”
I smiled gently. “That’s true. My original world is far beyond the capabilities of this one. We now have a golden opportunity to change that—one that will shape Lyra’s future, strengthen Noah, transform the North, and perhaps even impact the entire world.”
Elowen sat back slowly, letting her breath out. “This is insane.”
“Yeah…”
“But… I still want to help.”
I blinked, genuinely surprised by her mental fortitude since meeting me.
“Even after all that? Trust me; it’s only going to get wilder from here.”
She nodded firmly. “You could have kept it from me, but you trusted me enough to share such a secret. That means everything. If what you’re saying is true, that knowledge and power from an entirely different world are within our reach, you’re going to need someone by your side that is willing to believe in the impossible.”
Livia snored softly, but I could see the faint shine of admiration in her eyes.
“Looks like she’s hooked,” she said, giving Elowen an approving nod.
Elowen had finally cemented her place in my heart, and now I know I can trust her going forward because honestly, it would be dangerous now if she didn’t.
“Good… because now the real work starts.”
“Oh… and Elowen,” I said suddenly, rocking Lyra gently in my arms while leaning back into the couch, “I forgot to mention something kind of… huge.”
She blinked, already overwhelmed but clearly still paying close attention to my words.
“Next time we go back to the other world, I could probably take you with us.”
Livia, seated beside me with her arms loosely crossed, gave a soft, suspiciously knowing snort.
I grinned. “You see… the car we brought back has four seats if you exclude Lyra’s spot. So you and Livia are welcome to join Noah and me on our journey back to the other world.”
Elowen’s eyes widened. “You’re serious?”
“Of course,” I said with a wink. “One of those spots is already promised to Livia because she’s my girl, my right hand, and sometimes my emotional support knife-thrower.”
Livia rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress a smirk.
“I’m just making sure you don’t get arrested for world-hoppy lunacy,” she muttered.
“I love you too.” My words were sweet, and then I turned back to Elowen. “So that means… only one spot is left, and frankly… leaving you behind would feel weird. You’re always with me anyway and involved in most of my plans. So… want to come and see another world that’s literally two centuries more advanced than our own?”
Elowen looked like I’d just offered to personally fly her to the moon. But… this is far better than seeing absolutely nothing in space. The only reason we landed on the moon in the first place was just to be first; it’s not that thrilling of a place to be. That’s just my opinion.
“A whole different world…” she breathed, her eyes trembling with what looked like excitement. “You mean like those moving pictures you showed us earlier, the metal towers that soar into the sky, or that strange box that lights up and talks?”
My smile widened as I watched her excitement bloom.
“All of it,” I said with a grin. “Electric lights, airplanes, freezers, microwaves, and fashion that would make every noblewoman here scream into her pillow.”
Livia chuckled. “She’s not wrong. You’d lose your mind in a clothing store alone, I’d imagine.”
I leaned forward. “So? What do you say, Elowen? Want to be a literal world traveler?”
She didn’t answer right away, which kind of surprised me. Who in their right mind wouldn’t want to experience something so magical? At the same time, the look in her eyes told me everything.
Wonder, fear, curiosity, and devotion that I’ve seen grow over the time I’ve spent with her.
“Yes,” she exclaimed. “I want to go!”
I smiled, satisfied with her response. “Let me hype you guys up even more,” I said, hugging Lyra closer while practically bouncing on the edge of the couch. “We’re probably going back in a few days… at most, because why the hell would I want to stay here right now? It’s boring… I’ve already done the emotional speeches, school, and noble drama. It’s time for a much-needed break and some fun.”
Elowen tilted her head, already hanging on every word, while Livia gave me that patient, amused look she always gets when I go off the rails.
“The entertainment in the other world will completely blow your minds. Music, movies, games, and books are all on command. Artificial intelligence will never talk back to you; I’m sure you don’t understand what that is… but you will soon.” At least not yet; who knows if Skynet will become a reality in the future?
Livia gave a questioning look. “You mean like those moving pictures you mentioned before?”
“Exactly. Imagine a painting coming to life with even more vivid colors than you can imagine. The sounds will also make it feel like you’re really there, especially if we go to a movie theater. Also, the bathrooms are far superior to anything here.”
My expression became even more transparent as I watched the astonished faces of both girls. I continued on explaining all types of different things we could experience.
Some part of me would rather just stop trying so hard over here and just go live on Earth. It would be so much easier, but on the other hand, I’ve already pumped up these people, and I would feel bad if I went back on them.
“It seems like that world has a lot of magic,” Elowen commented.
“No magic to speak of… just technology through invention.” I grinned. “Something I’m hoping the people here will be able to understand and hopefully reverse engineer.”
With the weather being so cold most of the year, creating real heated houses would be a far step forward for keeping the Northern people healthier. It's a much better option than having multiple blankets.
“Toilets are actually comfortable over there, not an ordeal every time you have to relieve yourself. Who wouldn’t want that?”
Elowen was obviously intrigued by the idea.
“Also,” I continued with a gleeful expression, “the clothes, as you’ve seen, are far superior to these heavy dresses. Who wants to wear something so uncomfortable all the time? You’ll be able to run, dance, and breathe much easier. And the food…” I gasped dramatically. “They have so many different kinds you won’t know where to start. There are spicy, sweet, fried, fresh, and fast.”
She looked at me like I’d just recited the gospel to paradise.
“I feel like I’ve been living in a cave,” Elowen whispered under her breath, but we both heard it.
“You have,” I said cheerfully.
Livia shook her head, smirking. “You’re going to break her.”
“Maybe,” I said, laughing. “But she’ll be broken with style.”
I turned to Elowen with a sly grin, struggling to hide the smirk tugging at my lips. “By the way,” I began, “remember when you came sniffing around with those other two noble girls, hoping one of you could charm my Noah if given the chance?”
Elowen’s face instantly turned red. “I… I wasn’t, well… I mean…”
Livia gave a small cough that was obviously a signature laugh.
“Relax.” I waved a hand. “Noah knew exactly what was happening before I even stepped into the room that day. You could have walked in with a parade, fireworks, or both, and he still wouldn’t have given you a second glance. As you already know, he was mine by then. There was no chance he’d leave someone so alluring for anyone else.”
I shamelessly understood my own attraction level and at the same time was the total package. The fact my personality was so far out there was also a selling point that he seemed to appreciate.
Elowen groaned, covering her face with both hands. “Don’t remind me. I wasn’t even that into him… I mean, I thought he was handsome, sure, but mostly… I didn’t want to be left behind.”
That made me pause. So she just tagged along at the wrong place at the wrong time? But, on the other hand, it was a strike of luck she showed up that day. Look at her now.
“Well,” my tone softened, “look what that encounter led to. You’ve changed, Elowen… for the better. Now your position is higher than both of those girls I can’t even remember.”
I was serious about that; if I saw those two girls; I wouldn’t be able to recognize them.
She peeked at me through her fingers and then dropped her hands with a bashful smile.
“Whatever happened to those two, anyway?” I asked, genuinely curious since it was brought up. “Do you still hang out with them?”
Elowen shook her head. “No. They thought I’d lost my mind after the banquet when I said I believed in your vision. One of them even accused me of humiliating myself in front of the entire nobility. I haven’t spoken to either of them since.”
“Good,” Livia said bluntly. “You’re much better off without girls like that.”
“Exactly,” I said, pointing at her. “You’ve traded up… from shallow gossip to world-shaking dimensional travel. I’m far better company than a couple of bitches who only care about appearances.”
Elowen laughed the kind that came from deep in the gut and left no doubt she was genuinely entertained. “Honestly… I think I made the right choice.”
“Damn right you did,” I said, leaning back with Lyra nestled against my chest. “Stick with me and you’ll see wonders you’ve never even dreamed of, while helping me build something that will outlast us all.”
