The Soul Reborn: From Silence to Sovereignty Chapter 77

Chapter 77: A Gift Upon Her Birth

Everything had happened so very fast, and yet… somehow, it wasn’t fast enough.

After getting the doctor’s attention, Noah sprinted back and carried me from the balcony with more urgency than I’d ever seen in him. He barked orders, summoned guards, and instructed the servants to treat the situation with the utmost urgency.

He didn’t let my feet touch the ground until I was placed gently in the clean room we had already prepared for Lyra’s birth.

Obviously, if I had tried to walk with these trembling legs of mine, I would've fallen right on my face.

“You’re doing great,” he whispered the whole way. “It’s going to be okay; we’re almost there.”

I wasn’t sure if he meant those words for me… or himself.

The birthing room was warm; candles flickered on every wall with enchanted crystals. Soft cloth had been hung from the corners to add warmth and color. The air was filled with the gentle smell of calming herbs.

Everything was organized long before, making the whole place feel unshakably secure.

What I’ve been dreaming of all this time is finally becoming reality; it’s happening right now!

The bed I was lying on was large, bigger than ours, with pillows everywhere and thick sheets meant for comfort.

Still… My heart couldn’t help but pound in fear and anticipation.

I couldn’t stop rubbing my belly, staring at it as if she might suddenly kick her way out.

“She’s really coming,” I whispered. “I’m going to see her soon…”

My joy couldn’t be contained. I was literally over the moon.

Noah sat on the edge of the bed beside me and took my hand gently, threading his fingers through mine. He looked down with that warm, proud smile of his… and then tilted his head with mock caution.

“Please… try not to break my hand.”

I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“No promises.”

But then I shifted slightly, trying to ease the strange pressure building up in my hips. The humor melted into a sharp but honest realization.

“This… is going to last hours, isn’t it?”

Noah gave a long exhale through his nose, clearly trying to find an optimistic answer… He failed, “most likely.”

I groaned and flopped back against the pillows.

Even though I went through hell in that dungeon of a house, I still wasn’t particularly interested in feeling pain.

“Noah… I can’t even handle paper cuts.” I’ve been far removed from the constant pain, but I still fear it.

He smiled and leaned down, brushing his lips against my cheek.

“Then be strong… for her.”

I closed my eyes and nodded, “For her.”

My hand was gripping his like a vise; I thought my fingers might snap as I started feeling Lyra.

Pressure built up in my abdomen as my breaths grew shallow. Suddenly, the room began to blur at the edges. The candles smeared into light, and voices were muffled beneath the pounding in my ears. I was scared. What was happening?

Then… the world shifted.

It felt like someone had pulled back the curtain of reality and let me slip through. I wasn’t in my bed anymore, and the pain was gone. The most unsettling part… I wasn’t even pregnant.

I stood in a field of tall silver grass under a violet sky. The breeze was gentle, but the stars were unfamiliar.

As I looked ahead, scanning my surroundings… I saw… me, a mirror reflection of myself.

She looked just as I once had: thin, soft-eyed, fragile, yet beautiful. The Seraphina standing on the other side of the mirror was the original owner of this body and soon to be my adorable baby girl.

I watched as a smile bloomed on her fragile face, “Mom.”

My hands flew up to my mouth, completely stunned I was able to see her like this once again. Tears rushed to my eyes before I could get out any words; my legs also moved without thought.

I ran to her, and when I crashed into those arms, it felt like something inside me finally… clicked into place.

“Didn’t your soul disappear?” I whispered, unsure of what was going on. “I thought you might be gone… that you were reincarnated into my baby, and that was it…”

She held me tighter, her voice soft like the wind.

“I was, and I am. This is just a remnant of my soul. The god who granted my wish… gave me one more chance, this moment, to explain what’s going on.”

I looked at her, heart thudding in my chest.

“Can you please explain?”

She nodded.

“Aren't you curious why everything happened the way it did?”

I stood motionless in that celestial field, the world hushed around me as I tried to make sense of what she was saying.

My soon-to-be daughter… the soul of the original Seraphina, stood before me, radiant in a way I’d never seen before. Not glowing or holy, but… pure.

“I’ve always been a special existence,” she said in a low voice. “A divine light was placed inside me at birth, but the pain my family put me through…” Her voice trembled slightly. “It dimmed that flame. Buried it under so much darkness I couldn’t even sense it anymore.”

I wanted to interrupt, to say something… anything, but she held up her hand as if she knew I wanted to comfort her.

She has been watching me all this time; I’m sure she understands my personality.

“Then I heard a voice,” she continued. “A god who had pitied me offered a second chance. To leave this life behind and reincarnate somewhere new, but it would cost me my life.”

“And you agreed?” I asked with my throat tight.

“I had nothing left to lose. But the strangest thing happened. You entered my body just as I was ready to move on. A new soul collided with mine and trapped me within myself. The god told me it was the will of fate, that my final wish had been heard and answered through you.”

She stepped closer, her expression gentle.

“I saw everything… how you lived, survived, and fought back. Now you’re trying to protect others by waking them up through education, and at the same time you've claimed my body as your own.”

The emotion in her response gave me a huge smile as she praised me for all my efforts up to this point.

"I loved it. Watching you grow into the kind of woman I always wished I could become." She took my hands gently. "When the time came, I begged that god to let me stay and be born as your daughter."

So… my pregnancy was such perfect timing it seemed like it was guided by will itself. Any later or earlier, and who knows what would have happened.

While I was crying, she was full of smiles, like everything was going according to plan and she had already accepted her fate.

She smiled, cupping my face with both hands.

"He laughed and agreed, calling it the right choice; he was certain your love would be wholehearted and your care like no other."

My heart squeezed. “I do! I already do!”

She simply nodded at my words, but her expression grew somber.

“But now… your world stands on the edge of a looming crisis, a war far greater than you're prepared for. So I made one last request, just one wish.”

“What did he say?” I couldn’t help feeling intrigued because everything she said was true.

“He agreed, saying fate was at play more than we understood and this was something that must happen. But…” She paused for a few moments, hesitant to speak her next words. “It would cost me my memories. Everything I’ve seen and been… will be gone.”

My mind went completely blank.

"There’s no need to worry. I’ll still be your daughter. Only the memories will slip away, not the love."

“No,” I exclaimed, horrified. “You don’t have to go that far.”

She smiled, silencing me with a finger.

“I already did.”

“But…” I was at a loss for words.

“I got to live through you, didn’t I? That was enough, plus do you really want your daughter to remember what her mother and father were doing in private?” She gave an amused look.

My face blushed in obvious avoidance, wondering just how much of that she saw.

“I’ll still be with you, just as a fresh start.”

“But you’re giving everything up for me…” My voice shook.

“No,” she said. “I’m giving it for us. That lingering power deep inside my body now belongs to you; this will unlock a part of it. For the future we’re going to share.”

Just what in the world is she unlocking for me, and how will this change our current circumstances? I was very curious but at the same time extremely sad.

She reached out and hugged me… tightly. I, of course, reciprocated; I’d never let her go.

“Don’t be too sad,” she whispered. “Miracles can happen. Look at how lucky we already are. So… who knows, maybe someday? Fate will twist again, and I’ll remember. But for now…”

She started glowing softly in my arms, her form folding inward as time unraveled, turning her from a teenage girl into a newborn.

While I cradled the cute little Lyra in my arms, I couldn’t help but remember that girl who just gave everything up for this. I will never let her down!

Suddenly, the makeshift world shattered around me.

I gasped sharply as I started blinking rapidly at the sudden light.

The room was bright and loud. A dull ache throbbed throughout my entire body, but in my arms… was warmth, a tiny form.

It was my baby; Lyra was here!

She was swaddled in soft linen, blinking slowly, her little hand curled near her mouth.

I wasn’t even aware of what was going on around me, as I was just staring at her in awe.

“Wait… did I just go through childbirth on autopilot?!” I was so confused with how Lyra was just suddenly in my arms.

Noah, who was sitting beside me with actual tears in his eyes and a look of exhaustion on his face, laughed hoarsely.

“You did,” he said, voice thick with emotion. “And… you were incredible.”

After smiling at him, I looked back down.

Her eyes met mine… wide, innocent, and endless. It was obvious she understood who I was; I can only hope someday she gets her memories back.

“Hello, my miracle.”

"As I thought back to the world I once knew, I found myself silently grateful. If I hadn’t died, I never would've found this life... love... and purpose."

This new life has barely even started; there is so much more to do in the future.

Before I could even let out a single breath of relief to process the miracle in my arms, something strange happened.

A warm sensation spread through me, starting where my daughter rested against my chest and radiating outward like a gentle fire.

We were literally glowing.

Golden light poured off both of us, wrapping around me and Lyra like a rising sun, illuminating the entire room with a holy, unnatural brilliance.

I whipped my head toward him. “Noah!”

He stood frozen… his mouth slightly open, hands clenched at his sides. The light reflected in his wide sapphire eyes.

“What the hell is happening? HELP ME!” I yelled.

The panic must’ve broken his trance because he rushed forward without a word and wrapped his arms around me, shielding my body instinctively.

“Whatever happens... we face it together,” he whispered as he clung to me.

Then, we were gone.

There was a sudden pull, as if the air had been sucked from my lungs and replaced with something else entirely.

When my vision finally cleared, I realized we were no longer in the North.

Noah’s arms were still around me, and Lyra was against my chest.

But the sky above us had no stars, as if something was blocking our sight.

It was a black canvas scattered with moving lights. Somewhere nearby, the soft hum of electricity filled the silence. In the distance, a long, thin tower blinked red at its peak like a warning beacon. Farther still, beams of light swept across the darkness. Were those car headlights, streetlamps, and the faint glow of a distant city?

My jaw dropped.

“Noah, let me go!” I didn’t mean to shrug him off, but I wanted to figure out what was going on.

He hesitated for a second before releasing me, still tense and ready to shield me if anything happened.

I stumbled forward, my bare feet pressing into unfamiliar grass as I turned in a slow circle.

There were power lines, light poles, and an actual airplane slicing through the sky with a distant, mechanical roar.

“No… way,” I blurted out, still trying to comprehend that this was actually happening.

Noah stepped to my side, eyes locked on the plane overhead.

“What… in the world is that?” He said as he pointed up, my gaze followed his finger.

I watched as he reached for his sword on his back; my giggle only made him more flustered.

“We’re in no danger,” I said quickly, shaking with excitement. “It’s transportation. That’s an airplane, Noah.” I tried to keep my voice calm to reassure him. “We’re… not on Elarion anymore.”

He turned to me sharply. “What do you mean?

I looked down at Lyra, who was now sleeping peacefully despite everything.

“She gave us a gift upon her birth, and now our options are limitless.”

To think I would get the ability to traverse worlds.
