Russian Roulette
Added 2025-03-08 00:32:27 +0000 UTCI just couldn’t find the strength to finish it. I didn’t make it clear enough in the art - Ghost set up a game of Russian roulette, and it wasn’t his first time…
I wasted so much time on it, but in the end, I couldn’t complete it or make anything that felt right. Maybe comics just aren’t for me. It’s always a struggle to cram a story into a few images, to figure out what truly matters and how to make the audience feel it. So in the end, it’s just a depressing concept, something that could have played out in Ghost’s life.

2025-03-08 21:47:07 +0000 UTCTo be honest, I don't know anything about comics, but maybe you could add an image of Ghost spinning the barrel, and then putting it up to his head? In my case anyway, that's all your comic is "missing" for me to really understand what is going on here. If you have the space/time, you could also draw Ghost leaving the party, or just him alone in his room, putting the 5 bullets in the barrel and then go to him spinning it and pulling the trigger in front of Soap. No matter what though, your art is lovely.

Just like Eli said, you have a good start. It's up to you if you want to tackle or just leave it, as long as you're having fun there 🙂

What I would personally change is that third panel, I'd show the party itself: a room full of talking, laughing, eating, drinking people, music in the background. Ghost nowhere to be seen, which would be the reader's first clue that something is amiss. Fourth panel split into two; in the first one, we see him from behind, opening the door to another room, away from the party itself with the people behind his back, still talking and laughing. Fifth panel the one you have here. Maybe add a single speech bubble of him calling out Ghost's name, like "Simon...?" The reader's second clue that something is amiss. The second page is absolutely gorgeous, the art is so good and so heartbreaking. To drive in the fact that it's Russian roulette, you could add five bullets somewhere in the picture, maybe a small panel where we see them lying on a table or something. Comics are difficult, telling a story without words and only with pictures should be easy, since a picture says a 1000 words, but nope. You really have to think about what are the key elements that make the story, what the reader needs to see to get to the conclusion you want them to get to. Anyway, the art is fucking delicious as always, and I love the story. Heartbreaking.
