Meidri

Finally watched all of Interspecies Reviewers. Having watched the entire thing, I could not see a world where Funimation would've put it out on bluray. The show goes way too far for the type of stuff Funimation releases, even if they do put out some ecchi series. Interspecies Reviewers is effectively hentai. Really well done hentai, if I might add. It's women pursuing adult type work and it's treated respectively, even if some kinks in this fantasy world are played up. Some of the actions of the characters can be questionable at times (like when the gang makes basically sex dolls in the likeness of Meidri here, bringing forth her wrath when she finds out), on the most part I felt they did a good job. The show won't be for everyone. It's revolved around adult work, but it's not a pessimistic view of it, nor do they treat those in the industry like they're second class citizens. The elderly human, who when first revealed is played up as a joke of "how can anyone get off to her?!", they make her highly respectable in that workspace. She's had a lot of experience, and those younger than her see her as teacher of sorts, with shorts at the end of some episodes being her giving insights/tips on how to do a better job. It didn't take long for me to start finding this old, wrinkly, overweight woman wearing nothing but a nightgown as adorable in her own way. It's kinda like that old bit Roald Dahl said about ugliness: she may be old and fat and wrinkly, but her inner good and wholesomeness shines through and makes her lovely. Right Stuf put out the uncensored version, including an alternate version of the second half of episode 6 where in show there was a joke about light getting in the way of the chest being removed. They gave it a premium release with a steelbook case, soundtrack to the show, and a art book containing the storyboards for the first and last episode, along with location shots and bonus manga. They gave it the care Funimation wouldn't have done for that type of show. I picked it up while it was for the preorder price of $69.69 (nice), and while that's a steep price for a lot of people, I think it was worth it. I hope more people support it.
