Cooper managed to come on briefly today just as I was slapping dialogue down after spending hours agonizing over it! After managing to get 7 sentences from him, only 2 of which were about this page, I was able to proceed to work! In all seriousness, the process of trying to rethink the dialogue on the previous page and slap together a new chunk of the script was a very painful process. I'll let you in on a little inside baseball or whatever the saying is that I'm too lazy to go up and google it because who has time to do that? All this came about due to the second to last panel of page 517. For a refresher, it's when Angela says Kevin has to tell Elaine his secret "...after we get home from the convention. I don't want the news souring the weekend deal." In the original script, Angela gave a different time frame for Kevin to talk to Elaine, with Cooper convincing me to change it to what it is now as it made more sense. Now, things changing from the script happens all the time. (And when I say script, I mean more of a short narration than a legit script). As I'm writing it, I don't think too hard about where pages start and stop. So when I get to storyboarding, I'll wind up rewording things/adding new lines/remove stuff so it better fits a page. And then weeks later when I come back to the storyboard and start doing the actual page, sometimes I look at what I wrote and go "this is shit" and change it. Problem is the storyboards only went up to the previous page. When I went back and checked the original script, I realized the changes that were made to page 517 straight up fucked up the rest of the scene. "Not a problem!" I thought. "I can have Cooper help me out!" And of course he had shit come up in real life. It's not uncommon for me to dig myself into a hole constantly when I work on the comic and other stories.
