Update 08/04 - Patreon Failure, Tick Bite Scare and Return from Vacation

Hello everyone this is an amalgamate post written by both Alfabusa and Earndil.

You won't know who wrote what, the only way for you to find out is to pick up a degree in Poppenangite critical scholarship and try to decipher who wrote what based on our differing writing style and the cultural contexts within which we wrote our individual texts.

NEVERTHELESS, onto News!

PATREON FAIL

This obviously does not apply to YouTube Membership, but, on Patreon they've had a bit of a fuckity wuckity as of recently where cards have gotten declined all over, resulting in payouts not happening. As a result, we've had very big, very sudden dip in patrons because Patreon themselves cancelled the pledges without warning.

Patreon sent us an email telling us this:

"If a patron reaches out to you about a decline, you can advise them to follow these steps:

Contact their card issuer to confirm the charge is valid and retry that card

If the retry does not work, try a different payment method. Patrons can edit their payments in their Settings, under Billing History.

We’re deeply sorry about these interruptions and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve them.

The Patreon Team"

This is utterly untenable advice, and they need to make sure this is entirely fixed by next payment cycle and that everyone is notified about it.

NEW VIDEO?! WHAT IS THIS FEVER DREAM??

We released a new video today!

It's not what I would call a quality work that we tinkered with for months.

Rather, we slapped it together in our off-time as a fun experiment for a format that COULD have the potential to be used for more high-quality projects!

It is a Fully Narrative Battle Report.

That is to say, it is the summation of a tabletop game in video format but, instead of going turn by turn with players explaining the state of play as the game goes on, we have turned the game we played into a narrative and told it, with both narration and dialogue between characters within the game, directly inspired by the Dawn of War series.

This is something we've done in the past with TTS (EP26 Part 1 and EP30), but we wanted to try doing it without any actual animation, solely using (poorly) filmed footage from our tabletop game that we started filming on a whim.

It was also a bit of an excuse to make something for Turnip28, a funny, post-apocalyptic, napoleonic tabletop wargame (with free rules) that we really like and would recommend.

VACATION RETURNETH

Alfabusa has finished his vacation, having recently hosted quite a few of us from the production team for a fun, week-long meetup in SWEDEN.

Karl is still on vacation though, and next week Garrot (Lead Illustrator) will be leaving for one final week because both he and Karl will be going to the Medieval Week event on Gottland here in Sweden, where they'll be living as gangrenous peasants for an entire week.

WE FUCKING HATE TICKS AT OGRE POPPENANG

So, one thing that has unfortunately occured is that our precious illustrator Ironirocal has come down with what is likely TBE (tick borne encephalitis) after being bitten by a tick a few weeks ago. She's been at the doctors and currently its looking stable, but it might take a while to heal out on its own. We'll update you in case it gets worse which we absolutely hope isn't going to be the case.

Iro still wants to try and work, but if she's too tired, we're absolutely not gonna force her, she will rest as much as she needs.

With that, we're currently looking to get some new freelance illustrators on board to help out with Chapter 4 of HTP so Iro can rest without worry.

With this, however, I want to especially tell our Avatar Patrons in particular that it might take some extra time to get to your Avatars.

HUNTER: THE PARENTING UPDATE

The rest of us, in the meantime, have now officially finished the script for Chapter 4 , and the one known as the mighty COCKPUNCHER has been storyboarding while we finalized and (more importantly) cut down on the sheer volume of Panels in the script.

See we have this issue,  Earndil, Alfa, and Speaker, where we often over-produce the script at first, and then spend hours if not days cutting it down to be something better paced.

We try to include a hard deadline of at most 30 minutes per episode, preferably shorter, but we are routinely bad at keeping it there in the scriptwriting phase. Very humorous.

This isn't to say episodes are made *worse* at all, more that we just cut chaff for use in another script where applicable, or really hone the drama/comedy edge. It's also time consuming and we frequently attack each other with knives over it, very dangerous.

But as we say, Cockpuncher has been panelling, and making some damn good looking panels to boot! The process of drawing the panels have started, as well as the recording of voicelines, so soon, SOON, comes the long and brainmelting task of animating!

On a more tangible front, a while ago we reached out to Makeship in regards to the production of some fun fan merch, Garrot being the one to spearhead that front. They actually responded to him! In a rather positive way it seems! However upon response to them, they have once again gone silent, so we will probably hear an update about that later. 

We're trying folks, we really are, we wish to fill your home with cursed goods that stare at and mock you, drinking the beverages from your fridge, and eating your insulation, but we can only move as fast as a small production studio can. We don't even have a necromancer on the bankroll yet, Indeed just can't get anyone.
