Article 13 Passed - AW CRAP WHAT DO???
Added 2018-09-12 13:24:48 +0000 UTCAY
Okay so Article 13 passed anyway despite all odds and it's trash and shit and fuck god damn it why.
So, TTS and all other things on the internet ever are now under threat if they exist in a EU country, more or less.
Is there any hope for TTS?
YES.
I am very proud of my particular country because every single Swedish MEP voted AGAINST the article. As far as I've heard, the governments of each individual country will be the ones choosing whether or not to enforce the article. Since Sweden showed an extreme lack of interest, our government may just choose to pass on the law, which means I may not be affected, which would be great.
If it is enforced anyway, there are always alternatives. VPNs, sending the projects to friends overseas for uploading, sending it to all of you through the god damn mail.
No matter what, I can probably find a way.
But, from now on, I am passively going to start preparing my super original intellectual property Battlemace 40,000,000 for launch in case all goes to shit. They can't do anything if it's my intellectual property, after all. Fucker bastards, take that.
If there are any more updates on this front, I'll make sure to tell you.
Have a good one.

Article 13 has NOT been approved yet. An amendment to the language of the proposed article has been approved. The vote on the article itself looks like January 2019.

2018-09-15 05:01:45 +0000 UTCWell, at least you have options! And probably a lack of enforcement.

2018-09-13 21:11:55 +0000 UTCI'll be damned, something good might actually come of brexit, if it means we don't have to follow this bullshit. Oh, who am I kidding, May et al will just pass a similar, even worse law, one that has no resemblance to article 13, the UK came up with it all by themselves, honest!

2018-09-13 14:01:01 +0000 UTCUh no. They aren't enforcing the law because they have better things to do. Enforcing that is like enforcing jaywalking laws.

2018-09-13 12:11:09 +0000 UTCIncompetent & corrupt policing =/= a lack of infrastructure. The scenario in your example should be that the cops can't be deployed because they don't have transport, force multiplication or even an internal hierarchy despite their nebulous authority to enforce the law, just like Europe and South America.

2018-09-13 07:51:11 +0000 UTCAs Busa stated his own nations politicians all voted against it. So it could very well be that while it is a law Sweden will do fuck and all to enforce it. Much like marijuana laws in the United States, which you are supposed to have charges pressed against you by the state and a misdemeanor at the very least put on your criminal record. Meanwhile depending on the city the cop might turn off their body camera and ask for you to "pass it off on the left hand side", or pull the long gun from their PC and instruct you to lay prone very loudly and wait for another officer to show up as backup for a "drug bust". Hopefully Sweden shows it still has a pair and gives the finger to the EU on this stupid law.

2018-09-12 14:03:32 +0000 UTCWell damn, that's some unsavory news. Let's hope Sweden just avoids implementing it altogether, as you pointed out it seems they've had little interest in Article 13 since the beginning. Best of luck Alfa, here's hoping things work out.
