If the Emperor had a Podcast preview! Feedback required.

AY!

So, after a whole lot of pondering about both the idea of doing deep lore diving into 40k books, having Emps and friends "review" 40k books AND making a podcast based around Emperor - I decided to try and combine the three into one!

This is the Invading the Black Library Podcast! Or something, I am still not entirely sure what to name it. If the Emperor had a Podcast would certainly draw in viewers but I'm not sure it'd fit the best.

Either way, I've edited together a 22 minute preview of the pilot episode. Main hosts are the Emperor and Wamuudes, primarily because it's easiest that way, but I do want to include other characters in the future. There will also be guest-appearances in each cast, even in this one when I get to continuing it!

For being as long as they are, they are disgustingly easy to put together. These 22 minutes worth of video took me about 2 days to make in its entirety, which is so so SO much faster than anything I edit with visuals. This means that I can edit together these videos on a much more regular basis without having it interfere too much with the editing of the main videos.

Please do tell me what you think! I am aware that it might be hard to handle without subtitles, and I am willing to add them if many request it, but that will be at least one or two additional days of editing for each video. Any other form of feedback is, of course, welcome!

Other than that, I hope you enjoy!

Have a good one, Emperor bless!

It's pretty...solid if you catch my drift. That being said I agree that perhaps a shorter intro is in order.

I'd like to see Kitten continue to host

It's good.

Meh

this is a good idea id like to see more of this with your brand of humor and such it works well

nick

I need more of this.

Kirk Rowe

this is really cool

ofc he knew he is the Alfabus

GUYFUN

Alfabusa! DID YOU KNOW?DID YOU KNOOOW THAT GUILLIMAN HAD TO DIE TO RETURN? Tell us! Emperor constanty wanted his life support to be turned off!

Profe MacKnight

I love how Wamuudes pronounces the names of old just like he totally should Shakespire would be proud lol Funny and informative, it's fantastic.

Intro is rather long and here's too much dialog at the beginning. So in the end story is just starting too slowly.

Rami Sihvo

Agreed with the others. It's good, but shorter into.

Gregor

I enjoyed it but, but the intro was kinda long. It was a bit heavy on the in universe set up of things, and at times felt a tad redundant

The potential is there for this to be an excellent part of the TTSverse. The initial 5 minutes or so is a bit slow and dry but that is largely due to the necessary introduction process. Once Emps makes his appearance and the actual segment begins it improves dramatically. You do a good job presenting both sides of the argument of Last Church while not overtly favoring one side or another. As a fan of 40K, I approve of this. But as a devout follower of Chaos I must reiterate that the Emperor is always wrong. Except about Angron. I am fairly certain that the mere sight of a book would cause him to gnash his iron teeth hard enough to generate sparks.

Dread Pirate Steve

I looove this. It does still kinda need subtitles but if that would take too long then meh I'm sure people can still understand through the accents and the text to speech garble.

medhathobo

you should invite frands to the podcast but it might clash with the rare but enjoyable nostalgic freshkarl kast

GUYFUN

I love listening to these sorts of thing along with dat Adeptus Podcastus thingy

GUYFUN

This is a great idea! I love the idea that Whammudes of all people is a voice of reason and that even he does not seem to know what to do with that! Would be really interested in seeing a review of Master of Mankind from this perspective!

Glen Mallorca

Enjoyed it. Started off a little slowly, but got into it after that.

Cinder

Just pledged just to see this and to support what ya do. I'd love a series around this, i would even be content if there were episodes without the visuals and just the voices bantering on subjects. Though the visuals are nice, even at barebone.

Chernobeta

Funny, entertaining and informative as always. Custodes doing a huge exposition explosion at the start was kind of a bore for the first few minutes, but once Emps arrived it got good. Really can't wait for this to become an actual thing, looks to be great!

Conor Gordon

I would listen to this. Make it so number one.

Lubu343

Very entertaining. However, I do want to hear more about those eldar smut that were mentioned. Entirely for educational purposes of course.

SurlyPanda

The Emperor sure brings out the snark in his servants, doesn't he?

Jack Ponder

Sounds like a good first go! My girlfriend and I enjoy your work because it is a very entertaining way to learn about the Warhammer universe, so fitting in lots of lore is what we look for :)

Yeah. Definitely gonna need some fuckin' subtitles on this one. I think we can handle an extra day or two of waiting for edits. Also might wanna shorten that heap of shit in the first few minutes. Otherwise yeah, this seems like a good time. Also something that would also benefit from 'guest speakers', so to speak. Looking forward to the next one you shit out.

Cotton

Good point! The setups in the future will more than likely be a lot shorter, as this was just to establish how the 'podcast' came to be in the first place!

Alfabusa

This is going really well. Loving the interplay and the review! I'd have thought that the Emperor was ass-holy :p Or maybe that's the Custodes I was expecting at least one mention of going into the clown library to be followed with Ahriman spitting out his coffee.

Paul Calhoun

"If the Custodes had a Library Card"

Alfa-Busa. please give us more. this is not only extremely entertaining but also very informative.

Flaw... emperor has only a podcast. No text to speech device mentioned.

I like the idea of this. Subtitles would be preferred and I agree with Nostalgia that a "4th-degree warp fuckery" preface should be added. I look forward to what you produce.

DragonTamer

If the Emperor had a podcast... ROFLMAO wow

Loved it. +1 for subtitles (audio was fine, but all are english native speakers. This can also give room for more voice acting / background chanting since you can follow along) I like the emporer being kind of evil and assholish. Gives him lots of character

First off, I'd definitely suggest using subtitles. While the dialogue is by and large understandable (which, obviously, should be the priority given this is an audio-intensive series), occasionally some bits can squeak by for one reason or another. Maybe get Eliphas to give you a hand? Also use spellcheck, Alfa, you scamp. But if the subtitles end up taking more time than you'd like, maybe compensate in your voice direction. Have whoever's featured in a given episode try to speak a bit more slowly and clearly than they might normally. Second, I'd maybe consider prefacing the series with a mention of it being "4th-degree warp fuckery" so that you don't run into any issues with these episodes conflicting with canon in terms of who knows what and who is where. Plus, viewers won't feel as though they need to watch the series in case they miss some event that they think will be referenced in the main series. Not that I want anyone skipping this series, of course. I can't think of anything else at the moment. I'll totes bug you if I do, though.

Nostalgia

the video concept seems good. but it might be because it is the first but the massive heap of extra info for setting up the video seems a bit too much like the first 8min or so. but if it is just set up for the rest of the series then i am completely fine with it! i feel like the setup in the beginning of your next lore video should maybe be around 3-4 min of set up for what we are talking about and then what ever amount of time the knowledge takes to con way. this is but my opinion

good stuff! I look forward to more of it!

I like that it s not just lore but a discussion on the lore as well. keep up the great work alfa!

Brett Rudd

^Ditto.

Like it, love it, want some more of it! Keep up the great work Bruva!
