Inking With A Tombow Brush Pen (Video)
Added 2024-11-22 23:36:19 +0000 UTCA few minutes of me futzing around with a Tombow brush calligraphy pen (the green one). I was mainly outlining figures. I went a little faster than I normally like to, I think holding the phone in my other hand made me concentrate harder or maybe my mood was good because usually I can't get this much done in three minutes. So I guess now I'll have to ink with a phone in my hand ha ha. No, because I was kind of nervous and after three minutes had to stop because I was worried I'd screw up. It was a very "of the moment" decision, I've been wanting to post videos (mostly stories about the industry) and I thought doing this would force me to figure out some things.
Well, I got myself only so far and Sarah had to help me get out of a corner I found myself painted in but hopefully I can start doing this more often, by myself. And set the camera up so I'm not holding it.
I've never made a video of myself drawing before, and I'm very uptight and nervous about having anyone watch me draw, even after the fact. I make a lot of mistakes and there's a lot of extra steps in many of my commissions and drawings that I don't always show anyone. I toss a number of roughs as well as detail "fixes" done on tracing paper. Can't do that at a convention, which is why I scaled back doing commissions at shows.
Hopefully this is of some interest. If you folks enjoy it I'll try to do some more of these and also try to get things worked out to do some other videos. I have to figure out how to use the mic Sarah got me. Yeesh. I have maybe twenty years more to try to figure out how to do these things without help, fingers crossed.
Also, apologies for the dim light. I was just winging it at around 6 a.m. on a whim.
Anyway, today's a certified "bad hand day" so I'm hoping to get some work done on this later, albeit slowly. I really need to get this thing done, not to mention lay down some lines on some commissions. I've got maybe twenty years to finally learn to cut down on the details I put into most of my drawings. Ha ha, I'll probably never figure out that trick.
More soon. Later.
