I don't draw the Red Skull/Baron Zemo Milk & Cheese characters anymore, because Nazis stopped being old pop culture bogeyman that you'd see getting punched out or made fun of. The pastiches appeared in a M&C-styled strip in Captain America Red, White and Blue some time back, the story was called "Der Last Time I Stormed Paris", if I remember correctly. I really enjoyed working on that one, it was editor Andy Lis's suggestion during an enjoyable and semi-memorable Ace Bar hangout in Manhattan. I don't know if I posted it here, I might have b&w line art scans of the strip. I had a lot of fun matching up old Marvel trivia to a typical Milk & Cheese search and destroy approach (and a MAD/Kurtzman overboard take on stereotypical comic book German-accented English). Getting paid to write "Jeepers, Creepers, vere'd you get dem Sleepers?" was definitely a dopamine nerd shot.
Anyway, one day I did some thinking (for a change) and realized I was not comfortable drawing them as Nazis, even comic book Nazis, even for an obvious joke. These days they're too damned real. There's plenty of other things to draw. Jah.
