Storyboard by Stephen DeStefano.
I don't remember much about how the title sequence came about. I didn't even realize at the time that we were going into production that it was something that I was going to be dealing with. I just hadn't thought of it and I don't think it was included in the contract. It was a separate task that if I remember correctly was an extra paycheck. I think it's because someone else entirely is often involved in an opening sequence --? I'm not sure. But at some point I worked out an idea and Stephen DeStefano boarded it. I looked through my files to see if there was a script for the opening, I couldn't find anything and wish I could remember how it was put together. Can't remember if there was a script or a discussion between Stephen and I or if we went over it with sketches. Lost to time.
There are several direct nods to the 1966 Batman show opener in there, as well as the all-hands-together panel from The Fantastic Four #1. The end credits image is a nod to the end credits image from The Monkees TV series. I was working on fumes at the time, I don't know how I feel about the visual references now, I'm usually unhappy with them but it was a part of the project that I was not given a ton of time to think about. I think the references are a bit much, but that's kind of the point of Eltingville, so, it is what it is.
I do like Jane's Batgirl-entrance crotch kick. And I like the character name introductions, Stephen's poses and expressions really capture the pathetic nature of the Club.
As soon as my schedule clears up some I'll start scanning some of the boards for Act 1, and some character designs to post here.
More soon, asap.
