Tear Them Apart Ep 20: Butterfly Kisses

The newest episode of the horror movie podcast I do with co-host Paul Yellovich is now available to listen to at the usual podcast places, as well as at https://tearthemapartpodcast.home.blog

We ended up doing a much deeper and more detailed take on Butterfly Kisses than expected, especially after we recorded three episodes in a row after abandoning our original plan. Originally, we were going to discuss Butterfly Kisses along with The Borderlands (aka Final Prayer) and Lake Mungo, but Paul realized quickly that we were going to shortchange the movies as we liked them all so much and had a lot to say about them. So we did a marathon session lasting over 10 hours, and also ditched the first hour and a half or so of our conversation on Butterfly Kisses. Again, Paul had a better idea, to pull the three stories apart and discuss them in chronological order rather than filmic order. Maybe we got too deep into the nuts and bolts, it's a long episode, so, book time ahead and I'd suggest have a chore at the ready to do while you listen. Hopefully we're good company, hopefully you've checked out these three films before listening to our 3-part found footage series.

It's a really nifty take on found footage horror as well as artistic aspirations, artistic desperation, careerism, truth, lies, crossing lines and the ethics of documentary filmmaking.
