Welcome new backers. Thanks very much for being here!
Just FYI, I have an extremely busy week or two ahead, two late deadlines, prepping art sales (and some collectibles we're shedding), a few business meetings (!), some interviews to promote stuff, pushing the commissions forward while we scramble for a solution to our the car situation (we're now officially car-less, and I wish I could care less, arf arf arf).
I'm going to try to stay in touch here as much as possible while things ramp up, and try to catch up on the PDFs etc. Sarah made a template for me to use and I have to give that a shot. We have to re-scan the Marvel villains piece so Sarah can assemble that into a print for backers at that level. I will definitely be back soon with the Bill and Ted Are Doomed #1 cover process and some other stuff. Probably post some old Marvel Bill and Ted pencils I have scanned, and as I'm pulling art to try to sell I can scan some rarities and odds and ends.
I'm pretty much living in the studio, I just took a short walk to mail my absentee ballot for the primary and it was the first time I've walked past the garbage can in weeks. There's a lot coming together, a lot of crossed fingers, a lot to try and get done. The second Beasts of Burden/Wise Dogs project is slowly getting there. Ben's been working during the shutdown, I thought we were at a "pencils down" but the schedule has been pushed to next year and things have been slowly progressing. I am hoping the next Beasts of Burden project can move forward soon. I was beginning a script when the series was frozen. We were lucky that the Bill and Ted project fell into our laps afterward, and a few covers. Not sure where things are going by the end of summer, hopefully something comes up soon.
Oh, for the folks who listen to our Tear Them Apart horror podcast, we made a video quarantine episode that will likely be posted on Youtube tomorrow. Paul and I invited an old friend of ours to join in, Brian David-Marshall, and we basically just did the diner talk thing that we used to do back in the day, which pretty much inspired the podcast.
Fun Fact: Brian published my first solo creator-owned book, Pirate Corp$!, back in the day, when he ran Eternity Comics (those were crazy days, if/when I ever start doing a comics podcast it would be fun to get him to talk about those days, as well as the people who got an early start in the business there, like Jimmy Palmiotti, John Arcudi, etc). I also designed the characters for Brian's 2003 Marvel mini-series, The B-Sides, and we co-wrote a short Aquaman strip for one of the Bizarro anthologies.
Aaand that's about it for the moment. I will also schedule my first "official" livestream session soon.
Take care, see you soon!
