Character profile: Mom + Status update

Whilst the mom character is not a love interest, she does still have relationship stats.

This is similar to the male characters, although those are referred to as friendship stats. For both Mom and the male characters, the stats affect those characters’ attitudes towards you.

Max lives at home with his mom. Since he’ll be attending a local college, he will stay at home rather than move into a dormitory. Just like any mother, she has certain expectations of you. These include grocery shopping, helping out around the home, and doing errands.

These tasks will generally involve other female characters, which you may or may not be interested in pursuing. For instance, the first grocery task will introduce you to Haylee at the supermarket.

Mom will often ask you to help your neighbor, Mrs. Wilson. This will give you an opportunity to spend time with Victoria and/or Catherine.

At some point, Max will want to bring a girl home. If you’ve maintained good relationship stats with Mom she will be discrete. Not maintaining those stats will mean she’s not so accommodating and will make her presence known, quite possibly destroying the mood and preventing you from getting anywhere with the girl in question.

There are, of course, ways around that. Besides the obvious of going to the girl’s house, where you may need to contend with her mother instead. You can enlist the help of other characters in the game to cover for you.

For example, you can visit cooper’s house on Saturday instead of grocery shopping. Mom will moan at you and ask you to go shopping on Sunday. When you get home on Sunday Cynthia will be there. She will say what a good son you must be since her son refuses to do stuff for her. Your mom will point out that you were supposed to do the shopping on Saturday. If you had the scene with Cynthia in her underwear she will cover for you, and say you brought some important college paperwork over for Ralph.

Mom will forgive you for skipping the shopping and tell Cynthia she can borrow you anytime she needs to. This will give you more opportunities to spend time with Cynthia. You will also be able to lie on occasion and tell mom you were doing stuff for Cynthia when you were doing something else. Providing you maintain good relationship stats with Cynthia, she will usually cover for you.

The above scenario can also apply this with other women who are friends with your mom, but there could be a cost to abusing the trust of these women.

Status Update

Most of the rendering for the next playable day is done. There are a few scenes still to complete and post-work to clean up any rendering mistakes or artifacts.

I am aiming to release the update in March (yes, this month).

Before releasing the update, I will enable Patreon’s ‘charge up front'. This doesn’t affect existing patrons, only new people. This is recommended by other adult game developers to counter people signing up to get a download link and then canceling their subscription before the billing cycle.
