Hey, all you fine folks!
RPG Map Maker - Phase 1 installer is finally on the Crosshead website!
The folder includes save files for all the maps I've made and 6 premade terrain options with 7 setting variations. Right now, in this test version of the project, you'll be able to import your maps as well, but not fully make them from scratch. We're still working on that. This is basically a proof of concept for many elements, like height maps, a dynamic lighting tool, animation, and object placement (with height).
WILD RIDE
The past couple of months have been intense. A lot of changes in my personal life, but I've also been wearing a whole bunch of hats in my professional life. Trying to start a project like this and running into all the unique challenges that come with it has made for a wild ride.
Now that I've launched this first phase of the software, I plan to go back to basics for the next couple of months. We've run the tests, given everyone their tasks, and deployed the first demo, meaning that I can focus on the art again and take off some of those hats I needed to get us started.
Starting next week, I will do just that: I will only work on asset design (first, mainly still in Dungeondraft, hopefully later mainly in RPG Map Maker) and get back on my socials. The team is set up so that I can do the Dungeondraft assets myself, while the others help transfer them to RPG Map Maker (with animations and height maps for post-processing). Mark is on point to write the code.
The plan is to make a poll for every batch of designs, and we can map out the route for those assets together.
Thanks for everything. I'm going to take a long nap now and I'll be back on Monday.
