Runeport - SAVE FILES

I originally had planned on putting together a little video to explain how this map works, I mean it's rather straightforward but there are some hidden tips that you might miss without instructions.

Runeport was designed as an octagon that you can piece together in any photo editing software. I first made a sketch of the city's layout by vector drawing, making sure I get my base maps as lined up as possible. The center is a circle so that means I wouldn't have any issues repeating the shape 4 times. That was the original conceit at least, I eventually made a map of its own for it (that is halved), so that you could basically draw anything you want in there. It was an exercise in taking shortcuts.

The GEMHOLD was the original map (2.0), I reused the walls, towers and streets for my other GEMHOLD maps, simply deleting the walls and reorganizing the street plan where needed. Once I had the four versions of the map I pieced them together in Photoshop (but you could really use any editing software you want) and deleted the areas that overlapped. By simply using the grid to help me find where the maps overlapped exactly. Same for the CENTER map.

Once the main image was finished I created my CORNER maps (lower maps as they are called here, which makes no sense, but let's go with it!). I did this by exporting an image file from Photoshop that included at least 2 pieces of the grid of each of the 2 maps that were at the edges of that specific corner map. Then I uploaded those images into Dungeondraft, in the TRACE IMAGE section of the program.

I think that if you open my corner maps you'll find the image still in the trace image if you push up the opacity.

Once those were finished I put them in place and got started on doing shadows in Photoshop and exported the full map.

The end results of your mapmaking are always amazing, but the methods you use to get there are even more impressive. Didn't realise how many workarounds you used. Thanks again for posting this
