Will come back to watch your full watch along reaction later. I can also relate having been a passenger on hundreds of flights in and out of LGA. Occasionally on the former USAir, but not on that route. I also experienced loss of thrust (on a very small prop plane) as part of flying lessons and I hated that. Something that is central to every movie directed by Clint Eastwood is “the human factor.” In this situation the human factor saved the lives of every on that flight and countless thousands of lives on the ground. That was only because of Sully’s instincts, experience, and skills. His instincts gave him the right answer, and then he used his vast experience and skills to confirm. In 2009 the most advanced computers and AI would have made the wrong decision. Even the best AI in 2025, in my view, would have made the wrong decision because of erroneous censor information regarding one of the engines. It was the human factor that saved all those lives. The highly biased post event simulations, without considering the time needed to make a decision, as depicted in the movie were shameful. If those fraudulent simulations actually happened it seems that Airbus should have been investigated.
