You can save your time and effort if you animate some areas that are limited for viewing using smart-objects (red outline).
However, I made the mistake of thinking that I could easily animate the base together with the back leg (green outline) and it would not cause a problem, including if frame interpolation was needed (spoiler: there will be problems).
If possible, separate parts of the image by depth, this will help you
