Talkin' GUNS OF EL CHUPACABRA

Howdy, Traxians!

Joe Estevez and Robert Z'Dar walk onto a movie set... okay, "movie" is a bit of a misnomer here, as is "set" (unless you include a "on location" a set, which why would you?) and that movie-type-thing is called Guns of El Chupacabra.

It's by the people who brought us Rollergator. And yes, there is guitar noodling. And yes, Joe and Robert Z'Dar are together again. No, they do not play Soultakers. Yes, there is a Chupacabra, but No, it does not use any guns.

Mike Nelson calls it "the worst thing we've ever done"— and while, sure, he may have said that a whole bunch of times at this point — on this occasion, he really means it.

Watch the guys talking about it in this video, and get the full riff here. Use code CHUPACABRA at checkout for a bonus Traxian discount.

Enjoy....?

One thing that I can say is that I'm an old school TMNT fan and this is pretty on brand for Kevin Eastman. So that was the least surprising part of the movie.

This might not be the worst movie, but it definitely is the most irritating movie. THINGS is worse.

On a separate note I would like to elaborate on the creator’s other works one could call the Estevez/Brooks vs puppet creature Trilogy. There are 3 elements each film shares (besides being terrible and ostensibly kids movies): each feature Joe Estevez, Conrad Brooks and a titular puppet creature. And in each film, one of these elements makes the film particularly obnoxious. RollerGator has by far the worst puppet creature, due to its piercing voice and its so called jokes. Baby Ghost right under it with its irritating giggle, though it would far worse if it talked. The Little Lost Sea Serpent itself is the least offensive of the bunch as its sounds are tolerable and thankfully only speaks once. Baby Ghost has by far the worst Estevez performance in a cast of bad performances. RollerGator comes in second, and The Little Lost Sea Serpent third (due to his lack of screen time and comparatively reserved performance). The Little Lost Sea Serpent would almost be passable if it were not for Conrad Brooks, who’s performance rockets the film into the stratosphere of obnoxious. It’s made all the worse for him having zero impact on the events of the story, even though he has significant screen time and you think he and his scene partner are being setup as bumbling antagonists, but they never cross paths or share a scene with any of the main characters. Next would probably be Baby Ghost, though the scene where he describes the plot of Plan 9 from Outer Space I couldn’t help but find amusing, and finally Swamp Farmer Beauregard in RollerGator.

I will have to reserve judgment until I watch the riff (soon). So far on technical level, Things is probably the worst film you’ve riffed, though your riff of it is one of my favorites.
