Hangin' Out with RiffTrax: GRIMTRAX!

Greetings, Traxians!

Tomorrow, we're releasing something that's a little bit out there, even for us: GrimTrax! It's a collection of shorts that we originally felt were just too, well, grim to ever see the light of day - including one that we originally recorded way back in 2012!

More on that when we release this special tomorrow. For now, here's our webinar from last week where the writers and riffers discuss how this special came about, and what you might expect. Because nothing can cure the winter SADs like some extra grim riffing, right?

Enjoy! You can also download this episode here.

New Kickstarter goal: GrimTrax on dvd! Plus some of the darkest shorts that have been released in the past.

Not to be redundant, but I'm going to join the fine folks on the main RT site. The studio interludes are just wonderful!

Now I feel fetter about myself that I wasn't the only one laughing in wild discomfort while watching "Will You Be Here Tomorrow" ...

You're not alone in it being a childhood artifact. This one seems to resonate with a lot of folks who were like, "I remember that!"

I was expecting 'The Boy Who Liked Deer' on the list. Not an ask or suggestion, I just remember being traumatized by it on a dreary winter day and the sound of the reel-to-reel projector in Ms. Thompson's 5th grade class... I'm looking forward to watching this on a dreary winter day with only the hum of my PC to keep me company. (Edit: I laughed far more than expected, bravo!)

I need to get it off my chest that Cipher in the Snow is this weird artifact from my childhood that all of the older siblings in my family remember watching at church and being traumatized by. I just put in our sibling group chat that you guys riffed it and it's causing a real ruckus. I'm SO excited about this collection, and secretly hope more of the weird depressing shorts that were mormon adjacent get riffed. Though, they are all pretty grim. The Last Leaf (1984) being one of them.

This is what I've been waiting for! Grim it on!

Oh yes! Forbidden fruit! Fruit that is very much like… well, a bag of blood. Damn though, Mike. Are you okay now?

(And very stoked for a special with host segments - or interstitials, if you will :))

Sorry to have missed it live. You guys definitely have let a few super-grim ones slip through without getting Vault treatment. Case in point - today I watched "The Day I Died" - but they don't end at the car wreck, he gets to hang around on earth and watch his whole funeral and watch himself get lowered into the ground before going straight to hell. That one should be in this set!
