Hangin' Out With RiffTrax: GUMBY: THE MOVIE

The video is now available! Watch with the embedded stream above, or download it here. EDIT: Updated the video to include Kevin's avatar, which was inadvertently hidden in the previous edit.

This month's Super and Ultra Traxian exclusive webinar focuses on our most claymation movie to date: 1995's Gumby: The Movie. The old Gumby shorts were always a favorite in the MST3K days, so you can imagine how excited we are to take on Gumby and his pal Pokey in feature-length form. We had much to discuss about this delightfully odd offshoot of the classic TV show.

Super and Ultra Traxians get the extra benefit of being in the Live Zoom Chat and submit questions through the Q&A system, and the Video is now available to Traxians at all levels.

Enjoy!

He's still not sure what was going on! Check out the Talkin' RiffTrax video that we just posted :)

This looks like a fun riff and I was absolutely delighted by how many questions Mike had about the Gumbyverse. Can’t wait to watch!

Thing about Gumby and the people of his world, they're made of clay as claymation figures and they're fully AWARE that they're made of clay and apparently aware that they themselves are fictional because in their world fiction and reality are the same I watched all of Gumby (I think) as a kid (along with Davey and Goliath) because there wasn't enough television -- but you have made me think more about Gumby than ever I did

Thomas Van Horne

omggg this movie was my favorite as a kid my dad and i watched it all the time and we still have a gumby and pokey toy!

Marisa Rosen

I love Mike's "virtual" background!

In college I used to work at Gumby's Pizza in Athens, GA. Yet I knew nothing of the magic that is Gunbasia.

Donna McNeil

In Omaha, in the early sixties, seeing Gumby was a rare treat; But during the Sunday morning cartoon vacuum before Church (Misssouri Synod Lutheran, thank you) Davey and Goliath, Clokey's Christian offering was all there was between me and professional bowling. We're talking clam flowage-level programming here!

Karl Hamann

Clokey's director's vision was a tad skewed, that's for sure!

Karl Hamann

As a kid on Saturday mornings (Same age as you, Kevin) Gumby was on early, like 7am, before the "Real cartoons" started. It was either that, or Agriculture USA. Needless to say, I watched a lot of Gumby, DAMMIT!

Spiky Mikie

Gumby “cartoons” (actually stop-motion animation) are the strangest things I saw as kid’s programming growing up. Or maybe Popeye cartoons

Mike Ensing

I love how these always turn into a general Midwest culture Q&A.
