Opinion on Temporary Pairing Bans for Prompts?
Added 2024-02-05 16:59:01 +0000 UTCHey everyone! If you've spent any time looking through my stuff here, you'll notice that several pairings get far more attention than the rest (Harry/Daphne and Harry/Hermione being the most prominent ones).
I've received several messages over the last year (most of them coming in the last few months) asking about limiting the number of these pairings that appear in my monthly polls. While I'm open to the idea, I also do not necessarily want to temporarily ban people's favourite pairings if this is what they want to see.
So, the question is: Do you want me to have temporary bans on certain pairings in order to increase the variety of pairings that I write?
These bans would change on a monthly basis (so if we banned Harry/Daphne stories in March, they would be allowed again in April). These bans would only affect the Exclusive Monthly Poll and Patron-Voted Story Polls, not my regular series.

Yes, the ASOIAF story will be out on the 18th I believe. It's not quite done yet, but it's close. Gotta find a good evening when I can get some more work done on it.

I might be something like any women in the winning pairing of the previous poll cannot be included in the next one, but I'll post an announcement about it later.

2024-02-06 02:07:03 +0000 UTCThe problem with popular pairings is that eventually you will run out of scenarios to create. Sort of like taking clay and moulding it into various forms that finally you're out of what form to put on. Temporary monthly bans would be more helpful unless you get time to write the story for both winner and runner-up, or make a popular pairing AND rare pairing poll and write the story for the winning pairings. Which, I think, would be more taxing for you and we really don't want you to overexert yourself. It would be nice if who all chose no need of bans to justify their choice like how those who want the ban are doing so, other than "we like it. End of story." Speaking of variety, did you write that ASOIAF story that had support as well a few polls back? Good luck!
