Volume 4 Update & Process
Added 2025-10-15 02:55:12 +0000 UTCRest assured, I have not been idle for the last few weeks. I have devised an outline for the next book, laid down the first few installments, and written first drafts of key chapters here and there. I should have over thirty thousand words by October 22nd, which is enough to start publishing.
I can't speak for other writers, but I dislike posting anything unless I know what happens twenty thousand words later. It helps a lot with consistency, and it's easier to edit with fresh eyes when you haven't seen a chapter for a few weeks. So the plan is to keep a couple of weeks of backlog to myself, then publish on Patreon, then publish three or four weeks later on Royal Road.
Does that mean the Royal Road readers suffer more? I suppose it does.

Unless an author ghosts for months it isn't that big of a deal to me. Some authors stop at a point that is really hard to start back up on. (Can only blame myself for signing up for patreon a week before break)

2025-10-18 21:31:28 +0000 UTCWhen I first started, I used to write half a book without an outline, decide on an ending, and then try to write my way to the end. These days, I do a full outline, write half the book, diverge from the outline, throw away the outline, and then end up pretty much where I planned.
