The end is nigh — Can you feel it?
Added 2025-09-17 23:00:06 +0000 UTCIt should be obvious at this point that we're near the end of book 3, Twilight Hunters.
So, what happens next?
I have this awesome button on Patreon that lets me pause subscriptions for a month. My plan is to punch it on the 22nd, before anyone gets charged for a second month. When subscriptions restart, I'll post chapters for book 4.
What to Expect During the Free Month
You haven't been forgotten.
Blog and/or Sourcebook posts will continue at a rate of 1-2 per week.
Assets for book 2, The Legate of Mourne, will continue to appear in the Sourcebook for paid subscribers only.
No new ISINADL chapters.
What's That Dang Author Doing, Anyway?
During this quiet period, I'll be turning a metaphorical crank on the self-publishing machine:
Revise book 2
Finish production of book 2 (3-4 more illustrations)
Publish book 2
Revise book 3
Outline book 4
Write enough of book 4 to be confident I have a handle on it. (~20k words)
Travel to Ottawa for my day job (ISPCS 2025)
Update my website. It is two books behind, now.
Most of these tasks happen concurrently. Publication of book 2 might not finish until just after the break - it depends entirely on how long it takes to get the art done.
But Wait! Won't Royal Road Readers Catch Up To Us?
Almost. And then they'll fall way behind again.
Patrons will continue to receive early access to chapters plus high-resolution art, sneak peeks, and exclusive worldbuilding information.
So hang in there, everyone. New stories are coming!

The drama happens when programmers argue over whose interpretation of time synchronization standards is more correct. Then everybody has drinks together, and agrees that it's all the fault of the guy who wrote the standard. So, it should be awesome in its own, geeky way.
