Animation #11 - Update 2 (Screenshots)

Hey there folks~!

Just another update. It says "Update 2" but I've had a few live-stream updates since "Update 1" 😆

Haha, but this is a more general update I suppose.

Here are some images from some shots that have gotten significant progress. If you have been able to tune into the livestreams you'll recognize these. ^^

Will keep at it and keep updating y'all~! Enjoy ^^

Oh! So, just because he's doing it full time that means he's supposed to devote every hour of every day to it to please his patrons *just* because they're paying to see it? Got news for ya: That is an unreal expectation. Even in the real world, so-called "normal" jobs rarely require more than an eight to ten hour day; with a few exceptions like healthcare personnel or civil servants. Anyone that spends 12 or more hours per day doing their job is doing it by choice. For whatever reason, be it to make a better life for their family, or just because they like money, they have *chosen* to sacrifice extra hours of their day to achieve their goal. Did you ever notice that, back in the days when Disney Studios was still doing traditionally animated movies on a regular basis, we mostly only ever got one per year? Yeah. That was due to how long it took to produce them. And that was with multiple *teams* of animators working in shifts around the clock. Even *after* computers became a viable tool to aid in the animation process. And the cheap knock-offs of Disney movies that always followed? Ever see any of those? The animation was atrocious! Same goes for, albeit to a lesser degree, all of the direct to video/DVD sequels of Disney movies. Prime example: Look at the animation quality of "The Return of Jafar" compared to "Aladdin". My point here is if it took a freakin' machine like Disney with all of their money and resources an entire year to crank out a feature length animated film with dozens of people working on it, I think you can give Taka one little month to do what he's doing with astronomically less resources.

Courteney Lamoreaux

Dear Courteney, My argumentation was (still is) valid and based on the fact that he is doing this full time - earning monthly about ~10k Saying I have no basic understanding without knowing me and/or stating facts is just not constructive nor fruitful for any discussion. On the contrary I really do understand graphic art in various forms as I'm a trained industrial designer. Which is exactly why I do question the time table and why I (you can check in other comments) compared it with other animations. And in addition, I'm not supposed nor do I need to say "Thank you". In the end I support art, while paying for it (for quite a long time now). So I don't need to do anything. Lastly, just keep you're unconstructive opinion for yourself and stop pushing other patrons in corners just because you don't agree with theirs.

Soooo... you want him to make it "better, longer, more detailed" etc. annnnd you expect him to... "really speed things up"...? Clearly you don't have any basic understanding of what it is like to work in the medium of graphic art. Even using a computer, the more detailed and polished a work is, the ***LONGER*** it is going to take. And that is doubly so for animation! I think you need to just say thank you, and shut your mouth.

Courteney Lamoreaux

His work is pretty good and compared to the lack of similar content right now I'd say it's not only worth the pledge but the wait too. I think we all wish work came out faster but the way it's performed as others have mentioned is more complicated than using a modeling program where everything has sliders and is prebuilt. He is drawing every frame from scratch and that takes time. Again, yes an increase in speed would be preferable but it's also quality work. I'm sure given the demand he could pump out an animation every month but they'd likely look half baked and be less up to expected standards.

You also have to take into considering that he’s doing frame by frame so every movement you see is drawn, that takes a lot of time and it’s only him where as a full company of people can get it done within a week. Overtime he’s been improving and who knows down the line e might have better technology to get more animations done quicker. :)

Soren

Well yes, but I referred overall to the time between animations while having in mind that he doesn't do a day job anymore.

Tom F.

Hmm...by my guess, if this last post was him in the color/shading process, then he should be in the final stages of the project. Also, he has picked up speed. This idea was only finalized in late June, whereas in the past, it might have been half a year before he was this far.

I hope that this animation is reasonably better, longer, more detailed etc. or anything else which makes an understandable difference between your older animations and this one while doing no day job. I must say it takes quite a while to see progress... No hard feelings, but I thought it would really speed things up.

When does the video come out

Justin Rivers

I love that trainer’s sly look. And I’m guessing a look of surprise as his client grows. You convey emotion so well in your work, Taka. So exited to see more!

Bill Koch

already looking good as hell
