Hey guys!
A few days ago I finished a rough draft of the animation. That means all the major motions and actions have been put into place, leaving only a final pass where I fine-tune those actions and animate the smaller, non-critical parts of the project. We're looking at a runtime of.. 1 minute and 41 seconds. That's before we loop any of the scenes, so this animation is quite beefy! Much like the last one, but fortunately without all the problems. Quite to opposite in fact, but lets not tempt fate by dwelling on that.
As I mentioned in the last update there is some work to be done on the background elements. As you can see however, some of that work has already been done, if not most of it. I didn't expect it to go quite so fast, but I'll take the windfalls where I can get them!
For this animation I was planning to make the switch from the old render engine to the new one that I showed off before. I'll be making a switch, but I might be switching to another engine all together. You may be unsurprised to hear that compared to my previous work, consisting of dolphins in a blue fog, rendering environments like this one takes a bit more power. Between the proposed renderer and the new one, its a difference between 8 minutes and 2 per frame. With the current animation coming in at 2425 frames, thats a difference between 14 days and 3 days. so you understand the concern. Quality wise they're comparable but I wont make the final decision until the animation is ready for rendering. I have some experimenting left to do.
I think that's about it as far as the update goes. I'll be pressing on and begin polishing shortly. As always, if I forgot anything or you have a question or a comment, Leave one down below or join us on Discord .
Thank you for your support, take care!

Enjoy a complementary bucket of fish for reading this far :D
