Sisyphus by Phistomefel
Added 2021-04-16 13:01:20 +0000 UTCAs mentioned in last night's video, Simon was keen to try a new logic puzzle published by the incredible Phistomefel so we've released his attempt as a bonus video! We love the theme of this one where the idea is that rocks roll into the grid and then tumble down hills! (If anyone has the computer skills to show the final answer graphically we'd love to see it!!)
Let us know how you got on with this (tricky) puzzle!
Simon & Mark
Simon's attempt:
Rules: Each row and column contains each number from 1 to 7 exactly once. A number outside the grid indicates how many cells a rock rolls from the adjacent square. Each number represents a hill of the corresponding height. The rock only ever moves from a higher to a lower hill and then rolls towards the smallest orthogonally adjacent hill. If the two smallest adjacent hills are the same size, the rock rolls straight ahead.

I remember Simon showed a visualisation of this on the channel that someone made. I can't find it anymore, is it still available? Does somebody have a link?
