So it occurred to me that I never really advertise my Twitch stream here. I'm sure most, if not all of you follow me on Facebook where I do talk about it, but then again, you can never really be sure Facebook is going to actually show people the things they've signed up to see, so I thought I'd start plugging it here, too. If nothing else, I wouldn't mind getting y'all's feedback and suggestions on it.
Anyway, I'm kinda excited about this one, too, because it relates to me achieving something of a personal goal. As you all well know, I've been a fan of making sketch cards for quite a while now. I started off hand drawing them with pens and markers, and more recently I've been doing a lot of them digitally. Honestly, sketch cards are probably the thing I do most these days. It's even my favorite format to work with when doing streams! Anyway, I've been doing them for myself for years now, but I know other artist who have done official artist edition bonus cards for companies like Topps on properties like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. It's the kind of thing where you buy a pack of cards at Walmart or Target or whatever and you have a 1 in bla bla bla chance of getting a one of a kind hand drawn card. I've always thought that was so cool and have wanted to do that for a while now, but I never really knew how to get into that sort of thing.
Well, I stumbled upon a Facebook group the other day that's doing a series of trading cards of WWII style "Bomber Beauties" for charity, and they were accepting artist to do the special edition cards, and I just got confirmation this morning that I was accepted! Now, it's still a bit home-brew and not exactly drawing Star Wars characters for Topps or whatever, but I thought it was still a pretty cool step in the right direction.
Ultimately the cards I do for the set will be physical and I have to wait for them to send me the official cards to use. That might be the subject of a future stream. But, in the meantime, I figured there's no reason I can get a little practice/brain storming in now. So join me tonight from 6-8 as I sketch out some ideas for some Bomber Beauty sketch cards!
