Hey, everybody. Sorry I haven't posted a whole lot this month. Going to see if I can't make up for it here in the final week with a few sketches and whatnot. Also, the monthly sketches are on their way and should be here on time. I'm pretty happy with how they're coming along so far, and I think you'll find them to be worth the wait.
Anyway, for now at least, here's a Godzilla sketch card I did tonight while hanging out with a few other local artist. This one was a lot of fun to draw, but ended up being a bit harrowing to color. As I started, I quickly realized that my color marker collection really skews pretty hard on the more saturated side, so ol' 'Zilla here ended up a bit more bright and colorful than I had initially intended. By the end, though, it started to grow on me. The mix of the more serious current design with the more cartoony colors I think gives it a pretty unique blend of old-school and modern. If nothing else, it was an interesting exercise in rolling with the punches that you can only get when working with a physical medium like ink and markers, unlike my usual digital work where fixing mistakes is only a Ctrl+Alt+Z away. Anyway, I hope y'all dig it.
Go Go Godzilla!*
(*For the record, I was into Blue Oyster Cult before Guitar Hero, thankyouverymuch!)
