When choosing a snack it’s important to remember hydration is key! Choosing a snack that has high water content such as watermelon, juicy peaches, celery sticks can help add hydration to your diet. Along with lots of water we mommies need lots of vitamin rich fruits and veggies to keep our bodies healthy and our breastmilk abundant! Always opt for fresh fruits and water rather than juice because juice can pack on a lot of unnecessary calories. It takes roughly 8 oranges to bake a full glass of orange juice. Wouldn’t you feel fuller longer if you ate 8 oranges?! Plus the fresh fruits give you the fiber you need to maintain healthy gut biome and keep yourself regular in the bathroom. After an episiotomy or delivery this is especially important. Compacted bowels can hurt like labor so don’t forget your fiber ladies!
