Nipple injuries...

Breastfeeding throughout nipple injuries can be very painful and I still haven’t found anything to alleviate the pain from this. My toddler moved a certain way when she was breast-feeding and her canine tooth pierce the skin of my nipple causing a nipple injury as shown in picture. It is now swollen and very painful when she breast-feeds but it is on the mend. Talk to your doctor before using any type of medication for pain your doctor will best be able to let you know what to do for your own good and the good of your own baby but for me over-the-counter Tylenol has worked wonders and has helped alleviate a little bit of the pain along with a cold compress after the feeding. I always speak to my doctor before taking any medication vitamin supplements or anything of any kind before breast-feeding my baby. Nipple injuries can happen once in a while and in my opinion it is best to just breast-feed through it as it heals. I’ve been tough I have had to breast-feed through cracked wounded nipples thrush irritation flaky skin irritated skin and so much war from having fair very sensitive skin. When I was pumping though it was excruciatingly painful to use the pump during these times it is my opinion that it is best to exclusively breast-feed during a nipple injury to keep the milk supply abundant offer the breast more often if possible before returning to pumping after your nipple injury heals. Again I’m not a doctor but I wanted to share with you the trials and tribulations of my breast-feeding journey and show you the things that can happen to the breast during a breast-feeding session. it is normal for babies to bite sometimes even accidentally but if the behavior continues and becomes a regular routine you should definitely consult your doctor or pediatrician on how to lovingly correct this behavioral problem. I have had luck by inserting a finger gently into the mouth to release the latch and then I say no bite ! please don’t bite! In a loving but stern voice and usually this will correct itself after a few times. This particular nipple injury was for sure an accident.
