Using free local Assistant models via Ollama

We get asked a lot if there are any free GPT-like models available for the Assistant and the answer was always, "yes, but it's complicated".

Well... thanks to the work done by the people working on Ollama, we finally have a painless solution to run large language models on our own machines. So, we decided to quickly work on a solution that allows StoryToolkitAI to connect to Ollama and make use of its models in the Assistant window.

This means that you can now have an Assistant th...

Projects management update

We're often working with projects with a lot of footage that we transcribe and index using the tool, and navigating through all of them has always been a pain, especially if the transcription.json files are not all in the same place on our storage.

We just pushed update 0.24.0 on GitHub which allows better management of projects inside StoryToolkitAI.

Introducing projects

You can now create projects that can hold transcriptions, stories and even other text files in an orga...

Early access to version 0.23.1 standalone

This early release for Frequent Users packs the three main things we've been working in in the past few weeks:
1. The Story Editor, which allows you to select and export timelines/sequences into your NLE,
2. A significantly improved Assistant that can reply with 2024-01-24 08:41:23 +0000 UTC View Post

The Story Editor is here

In our last post, we mentioned that we're going to focus our attention on creating a system that (1) allows the selection of content from transcriptions and (2) lets AI auto-complete with its own suggestions based on existing content.

After weeks of tinkering and testing in our  editing room, step 1 is (almost) complete!...

So, what's the Story Editor?

Under the form of a new window, the Story Editor allows you to select text either from transcripts or from search res...

Early access to version 0.19.4 standalone

After last week's update, we found a few issues which were mildly annoying, so here are the top-secret links for early access to version 0.19.4 standalone.

Besides these fixes, we also made a patch with the new version of OpenAI Whisper which seems to transcribe faster than the previous versions (around 10-20% speed gain especially when using larger models on CPU-only machines).

AI-Powered Text to Image Search in Videos

We just pushed version 0.19.2 on the private GitHub repo with a very early video search feature which we've been developing here in our editing room in the past few weeks.

Here's a 5 step how-to:

1. Press Ingest (the new "transcribe" button basically)

2. Select any video file (supports most codecs)

3. Check the new Video ...

How to optimize the transcription process

Hello there!

We've been chatting with some of the Patrons in private and realized that sometimes the transcription process feels like it's 1992 and you're loading Lemmings on a Commodore 64 (takes very long).

Now, this might be fun in 1992 especially if you're a 10-year-old who hasn't heard of TikTok yet, but if you're dealing with hours and hours of footage and a post-production deadline, things m...
