Talk to the Audience?!? - March 2022

We've reached the end of the month, which means it's once again time for another episode of our community podcast. This time around, we discuss the ever-growing amount of new Simpsons merch, bootleg bars in Latin America, how the show didn't predict Russia's invasion of Ukraine, animation guild news, and more! And, as always, we respond to your questions and comments from the most recent round of episodes. So sit back, relax, and give us your pants! That's right, we rob now.

When it came the Michael Jackson episode, I would have thought you guys would have remained neutral of his supposed scandal. Please upstand there's a lot of people that don't believe in those accusations against a troubled man, despite the documentary. But you guys have a right to your own opinion. In short keep up the good work guys

Calling you out, Henry: "WE were too harsh on stationery sets"?? Bob said nothing! It was all you! Bob Mackey: Innocent! (In any case I appreciate the re-evaluation) Also, Garbodor is a Pokémon.

Just dropping in with effusive praise and gratitude for Talking Mission Hill. I would have completely missed this hidden gem were it not for your coverage. Thank you. Glad to be on the Pate Train.

Since April of last year, 5 out of 12 movies have been Disney/Pixar. I’d say that’s a good average!

Bob Mackey

Bob, give Lightyear a chance. I can tell you for certain there's good in it

Cool stuff - thanks for all the great information and wonderful podcasts! But, can you all please expand your horizons a bit regarding Disney/Pixar stuff? There is so much out there.

I wish you would have left KotH on Fridays. I usually listen to the paid content on weekends (when i can actually relax and enjoy) so it was nice to have something release and not feel “behind”

One of my very favorite parts of TTTA?!? eps is learning about new Simpsons/fashion collabs. I still have supreme regrets for not taking greater advantage of the VansxSimpsons one a few years back. Also, I realized that this month is the second time in a row I've left a comment that referenced being myself being quite small/short, so I'd like to imagine that on the very off chance that anyone recognized my weird name that they assume I'm basically an elf of some sort.

Speaking to Henry's comments about seeing a stage production of Sweeney Todd before seeing the stage. While I love the movie version as well, this is precisely why as a musical theater nerd I cringe when they decide to make them to movies. Some do a really great job of changing it or stylizing it enough to make it fit the format, such as Chicago, Sweeney Todd, or In the Heights... Most do a lazy job and just say, "well they're on a couch on stage, so let's find a couch" and make it too straight from the book of the musical and they're terrible, such as the movie musical versions of RENT, The Producers, or ugh, Dear Evan Hansen. I saw the movies of RENT and The Producers and hated them. But later seeing them on stage I finally understood the charm. As a musical theater nerd, my just general advice is to not watch movie musicals at all and see the real thing.

Spoonman was a Soundgarden song, not Counting Crows. Soundgarden is like the Counting Crows, only they're good.

Aaron Alcott

Disney back away from that but now the other side is mad at them.

"Boyz N the Highlands" was heavily inspired by the movie Get Duked! (original title: Boyz in the Wood). It's one of my favorite comedies from the last few years, but not many people have seen it, so I couldn't believe The Simpsons was really doing it at first. Then Matt Selman liked one of my tweets about it, which was a fun way to confirm my suspicion.

Bob I can't agree more with your take on Botw Master Mode. It's one of the worst "new game+" modes I've ever played. It's not fun juggling weapons bc the goons are damage sponges.
