TalKing of the Hill - The Unbearable Blindness of Laying

This week, we've got a star-studded Christmas episode with Tammy Wynette as Hank's mom and Carl Reiner as her new beau! The two visit Hank for the holidays, and his struggle to accept his mom's new boyfriend leads to a case of hysterical blindness when he catches the two elderly houseguests having sex on the kitchen table. Listen in and learn which animal is sacred to the Jewish people, the dangers of poking yourself in the eye, and the importance of having a foam finger that accurately reflects the sport you're watching. Merry Christmas in late May, ya'll!

I'm from arizona too. You can't even call arizona a purple state , MAROON at best this person is a jack ass, more importantly didi marries a prowrestler.

Nathanial Miller

I'm an Arizonan and I'm confused.

I'm still seeing no evidence that Arizona isn't a red state?

I think Pirates would be great material for WAC, since it's probably some of the most creative design and animation Hanna-Barbera ever did. I'd love to know about the production, the plans they had in mind as it was one of the classic "Cancelled Too Soon" cartoons.

Sure that was your excuse when you used the Talking Simpsons curse to kill Gordie Howe

Chris Tar

The different games they made for dark water was pretty cool too

Frank Grimes

We recorded this episode on April 2nd

Bad week to call Arizona a red state.

If you really want to go deep on Tammy and country music in general, you should really check out the podcast Cocaine & Rhinestones. It's all deep dives on different aspects of 20th century country music. S2 just started a few weeks ago, and it's going to be all about George Jones and Tammy Wynette. If you do listen, definitely start from the beginning. It's so great.

Yes, finally Pirates of Dark Water gets a mention in the show! I really hope you get to a What a Cartoon about it some day as it was pretty ambitious for the time. It had a very clear storyline set up in the first episode, and it was cruelly never completed. Cartoon Network even trolled fans of it with one of their bits promising the conclusion only to cut to a cat video saying that it was taped over. It's certainly not the best show of all time, but it was one of my favorites.

"that is SO Arizona" one of the jokes that made my wife laugh the hardest when I first introduced KotH to her and eased her into appreciating the show more.

Blake R.

As someone with an “Arizonan” grandfather, god does Carl Reiner hit that note of an Arizonan Papa perfectly.

Cody C.

saw it in 97 (was 14 yrs old) too in theaters and was dozing off until the ship hit the berg...and the most memorable scene is when the guy hits the propeller when the ship breaks in half.

Titanic could've used a built-in intermission like Seven Samurai

When I was a kid, we called one of my grandfathers poppa. When I was 18 he said to me "poppa is what a little kid says, call me Grandpa now unless you really want to keep calling me poppa", so I started calling him grandpa. Well apparently, he never had that discussion with my siblings so the first time they heard me call him grandpa they all fell out of their chair.

I always thought it was wild that it was on two VHS tapes.

I saw Titanic in 1997 in theatres and disliked it. You're on your own, Bob! (Real talk: I probably would think it's okay if I saw it again but I don't feel like sitting through all 3 and a half hours of it. Would much rather sit through all 3 and a half hours of Seven Samurai again since I know you haven't seen that either. That film rules)
