Vote On The May 2020 What A Cartoon Movie!
Added 2020-04-24 20:51:26 +0000 UTCMay is just around the corner on the Talking Simpsons Network, and that means we need your help once again with the next subject of our premium podcast, As you may know, once a month we release the What A Cartoon Movie! podcast, an extra-long discussion about an animated film, exclusively for our $10 Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting, we want to let all the $5 folks have a chance to be heard as well so they can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line. And in case you missed last month's announcement, going forward the polls for the What A Cartoon Movie! will begin in the last week of the month and end as the next month begins!
What have we got in store for May 2020 for our massive, premium podcast? A return to the most famous CGI animation company ever, Pixar! And since this is a Pixar seqeul podcast, the choices are all Pixar sequels!
Your four choices are:
Toy Story 2 (1999), Pixar's first sequel that almost didn't happen thanks to one of many contract disputes with Disney!
Monsters University (2013), Mike and Sully's origin story that brings Pixar to college campuses!
Finding Dory (2016), the long-awaited squel to everyone's favorite Australian fish adventure!
Incredibles 2 (2018), the even longer-awaited sequel that brought Brad Bird back to animation after Tommowland!
So please, make your voices heard before the poll closes on the night of April 30! Thanks as always for your amazing support, and here's to another awesome month of podcasts!

Not too enthusiastic about those choices except Incredibles 2. And, I haven't even seen that yet, but it would be a great excuse to watch it. Although, Monsters University would be interesting, too.
2020-04-25 08:42:16 +0000 UTCMonsters University is the dirt worst “sequel” there is a better episode of Futurama with the same premise. Toy Story 2 would play on loop during one of my jobs at Home Depot back in the 2000’a when they were selling TVs for the holidays and I still enjoy this film to this day.

2020-04-25 05:33:20 +0000 UTCNo joke, I saw Toy Story 2 FIRST, before I even saw the first Toy Story. So it's always held a special place in my heart, and the choice here is obvious.

2020-04-24 22:09:38 +0000 UTCToy Story 2: the choice is obvious. It’s in the echelon of sequels better than the original. Even though the troubled behind the scenes schedule literally almost killed artists at the studio

2020-04-24 21:37:52 +0000 UTCI definitely think Toy Story 2 would be a landslide being easily the best of the bunch, most emotional, establishes some really great characters who would return. I think Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory are fine movies but they are very flawed as lots of Pixar movies tend to be when trying to say something about "others" and messing up. Monsters University is also a particular kind of bad imo because while most of it is a 80s throwback film, that last third that many people credit for being "a realistic message" doesn't work in a modern context. I think that message could have worked in the 80s, but that pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps message suggesting that blue collar work will eventually turn into a white collar work is also a type of fantasy? As a millennial, I can't say I know anyone who was that fortunate to have upward corporate momentum. That and it doesn't even seem to consider that the "scaring" part of the job that everyone is focused on will eventually become useless as the original film ends.

2020-04-24 21:34:07 +0000 UTCLooking like this one might turn out to be a "please look at my medic alert bracelet" kind of outcome

2020-04-24 21:22:06 +0000 UTCToy Story 2 is probably the horse to win this, but man are there some really interesting conversations to be had with Incredibles 2.

2020-04-24 21:14:44 +0000 UTCToy Story 2 is the best of the bunch, though my wife wants to get the dirt on Incredibles 2. She has some...opinions.
