I've not been a fan of the live action remakes simply because Disney should be putting their efforts into making new original movies instead of recycling older IP's. FYI, The Little Mermaid was part of what's been referred to as Disney's animation renaissance. After Walt Disney died the studio became a bit rudderless and from the late 70's to when they made Little Mermaid, their animation movies few and inferior to the old classics. The success of Little Mermaid kick started their animation department and they got on a roll with projects like Alladin, Beauty and the Beast, ect.
