Regarding the next funding goal
Added 2017-09-22 08:07:56 +0000 UTCIn case anyone was wondering, the reason I have not announced my next funding goal is because I am still waiting to get a better sense of where I stand in terms of actual monthly membership. During my first month roughly half of the pledges that came in were from bots that were only here to harvest what little paywalled content I have, and obviously those accounts did not pay at the end of the month. It's unfortunate but I don't actually know how much money I will get at the end of the month since many of the pledges are not coming from real users.
Patreon does have a system in place for preventing fraudulent account abuse, however this feature is in beta and is being rolled out slowly. Until then the best I can do is try to block suspicious looking accounts, and I've also created a fake $50 pledge tier in hopes of quickly identify bots. If you for some reason actually want to send me $50, please just ask me for a commission because for now pledging $50 will get you blocked.
I don't really care that my paywalled content is being posted around because I know that sort of thing is going to happen anyway, and my interest for rewards has always been to give backers new was to interact with and influence my art anyway, which is something that can't be pirated. It's the uncertainty of the pledges coming in that is disappointing and frustrating. If Patreon says I've gotten $100 in pledges but I know that an indeterminate number of those pledges will never pay out, I can't plan my monthly budget around it.
None the less, once I have a better sense of how much money I can expect each month I will put into consideration what the next funding goal will be. Until then I would like to thank all of my actual backers for sticking with me and helping me to keep pursuing my artistic dreams.

Every time I post a monetized submission it seems like I get a new "pledge" and it's usually from someone who is not backing any patreons but mine. I don't want to jump the gun and assume it's a bot every time, but it's pretty obvious most of the time. I would wager to guess that I for most people actually backing me I am not the only patreon page that they're a member of.
