Recently, where I live, we had a huge snowfall. It became winter in an instant.
Last year, I did a " Animal Drawing and Popularity Vote "It was winter then too, and I sketched a snow petrel. When I woke up and saw the outside covered in white snow, I immediately thought of that bird.
Snow petrel is a bird that lives in Antarctica. It is somehow less well known than penguins. You can easily see it if you go to Antarctica, but it's not easy for most of us to go to Antarctica lol. I've never seen it, but I could easily imagine it when wiki said it was the size of a pigeon.
Usually I sketch first and then color, but this time I had an exact color and image in mind, so I completed the color thumbnail first and then sketched on top of it.
The darker the background color, the clearer the bird will appear. I like the blue background, but I think it feels more like summer than winter. I decided on the jade color that came to mind first.
One of their special features is stomach oil, which they use for defense. I saw a video on YouTube... I was especially impressed by the way they wiped their bodies on the snow. I thought about expressing this in a picture, but I didn't draw it because I thought it would not good the peaceful atmosphere 😅 - But if I were to add something animated to the bird sticker pack later, I think it would be fun to express this.
