Pretty sure the cold open is taking place much later in the timeline (they did that a few times previously in the Breaking Bad verse) and the desert bluebell flower is supposed to stand in for Nacho's soul. Talk of reincarnation and all.

2025-05-30 23:56:36 +0000 UTCEric, the part where you said Nacho wouldn’t have even gotten tied up in this if he didn’t get dragged down to Mexico with Lalo made me think of something. What’s cool about both shows is how Vince Gilligan/Peter Gould really paint a picture of how actions have consequences and the butterfly effect - I know you guys talked about it with breaking bad and the plane crash wherein Walt not doing this one little thing would have ensured that the plane crash at the end of season 2 did not happen… well, so many of the actions in Better Call Saul intersect too, down to Kim talking to Lalo: yes, she saved Jimmy’s behind by telling him, “I know why you’re doing this. You have no one you can trust. But if you can’t trust your men with your money, you have bigger issues…”etc, but it got Lalo to reflect and decide that Nacho was trustworthy. That’s what made him decide to bring him to Mexico. Instead, ironically, Nacho *did* betray him, but yeah, my point there is the butterfly effect of Kim telling Lalo off then leading to Nacho’s death.

2025-04-05 15:43:34 +0000 UTCWhen it came right down to it, Nacho did manage to at least somewhat go out on his own terms, denying Hector the satisfacton of revenge & leaving him to impotently pump bullets into Nacho's corpse in frustration. What's really ironic in a twisted sort of way is how Hector himself winds up going out in much the same way, denying Gus the final revenge he'd planned for so long & even getting to see the look of terror in his tormentor's eyes as Gus suddenly realizes that Hector is dragging him down to hell with him.

2025-04-05 01:48:21 +0000 UTCNacho didn't have as much luck as Jesse to get out. Sad but realistic and grounded way to write this plot line. The single blue flower growing on Nachos "grave" is beautiful.

2025-04-05 01:40:10 +0000 UTC“The desert itself wept for him.” I saw someone say this about the cold open of this episode and thought it was fitting.
