I always think an interesting insight into Lalo's psychology is when he's talking to the lady and she says they're expecting 2 more goats and he instantly goes to them sending for more, rather than thinking about babies.
Again Tony Dalton's dead eyes are some of the freakiest I've ever seen. It's crazy how such a charismatic character can suddenly appear utterly soulless.
Also a little tid-bit about Lalo. He's possibly the best villain in the whole BB universe, and he was only introduced in the 100th episode of the two shows lol
The house in the intro is definitely very Saul, but it's not Jimmy at all. When he was working at Davis & Main he didn't even feel comfy in the corporate apartment they gave him. Saul is a complete escape for him.
I do think that pretty much every aspect of every shot is micromanaged for enhanced impact or symbolism.
From the interviews I've heard by the people involved in the making of the show, they've all said that this is the most meticulously detailed show they've ever worked on.
The distinction with this show for me, which I also place slightly above Breaking Bad, is that whilst Breaking Bad is probably a better story, Better Call Saul is a better told story in terms of writing, cinematography, character depth etc.
Many of the same people who worked on Breaking Bad carried on into this show, and so I feel like, after the success of Breaking Bad, this show was given the reins to be a production masterclass, fully embracing the art of filmmaking.
