State of the Taste - Results and Write Up!

Hi everyone,

This was a fun series of polls, and I want to thank all of you who participated! We got about 70-100 votes on average, with the one on height reaching 160. A very tall peak, if you will.

As some of you may have inferred or read elsewhere, we will render this fantasy girl that won the popular vote. In the case of close races, we will just try both variations. Hey look, a popular Supergirl popularity contest trope :D

Let's start off with height!

A perfect bell curve! Spoilers: we're actually going to be looking at a lot of perfect bell curves...

Just to review some of our characters and where they fall as we go through these charts, Yvy is a shortstack for sure. Alicia is tall, Candace Connors-Swan is tall, and her little sister Coral is average.

We have an unnaturally tall character in the works, and we have done giantesses for some commissions and picture packs, but it looks like tall is winning the popularity contest, and our characters even reflect that taste as well.

Now onto...

All about hair!

We made another bellish curve for hair length, with a clear bias in the longer direction. The longer it gets, the more "fantasy" it feels to me, which makes sense in our realm of wishing for females with impossible powers and features. It's always a bit of a shock to see a girl in real life with hair all the way down to her lower back, let alone longer.

On the color front, I'm sorry brunettes, but you polled tying 2nd to last. (I added some other colors like blue and green, which came in at 0.) In first place, we have a total split between redhead and blonde. I actually expected blonde to take it by a landslide (because Kara, duh), so this was a fun surprise for me.

I never really talk about hair type, and even when I do use the word wave to describe it, in my mind it is still straight hair. Simply the flowing of it is what makes it akin to wave, as opposed to describing the nature of the hair itself.

Just for reference, here's Jennifer Aniston from Friends with her signature straight long hair, which I think matches the most popular poll length.

And here's Emma Stone, with the tied-for-first most popular color, and wavy, the most popular hair type.

Onto eyes...

A quick note: Red got two votes, but I forgot to include it in the poll itself. So this is based on the comment and its likes. This may have biased people away from it, but I have a feeling it wasn't going to be close.

Brunettes with brown eyes, again, so sorry! Brown eyes came in 2nd to last (black and white came in last with 0 votes.)

Blue and green eyes topped the poll, taking 68.6% of the 70 votes casted. To my surprise, purple made quite an impression. Is there some significance to that color I'm unaware of?

I won't talk too much about skin tone and physique, but behold, more bell curves:

Onto a subject that people love to debate about - character alignment! There's always a discussion about which type of super is best: someone who serves as a paragon of justice, someone who is a hero but works more in the grey area, someone who is pure chaos and destruction... well, here's what the 90 of you who voted think about it!

I couldn't figure out how to get more info on the graph (lol me!) but here are the totals:

Neutral: 23.3%
Good: 38.9%
Evil: 37.8%

Basically, it's a tie between good and evil!

Of course, there are subcategories within those categories. In the poll, I mentioned some examples - Yvy is evil, but she is lawful. She works for Ataxata, and her goal is conquest, not wanton whimsical destruction and automatic rebellion to any sort of authority. So that puts her in Lawful Evil, not Chaotic or Neutral.

DPS is probably Neutral Evil. She doesn't automatically reject authority, and she also answers to no one. She's just in it to have fun for herself.

You know... I honestly expected most of it to be pinned on the right side. But instead we got a bell curve with some of it pinned to the right.
