Next Big Project - The Revenant

A few years ago I released a mod for Halloween called The Revenant. I wanted to make the mod much bigger than it was. While I was struggling with which follower would get the next remaster, I looked at The Revenant and realized that this was the next story I wanted to tell.

The remastered version of The Revenant will have a new voice actress (I've got one in mind, I just need to pursue her now). It will include a better story and a much more detailed follower than before. I'm not going to spoil all the features yet, but in time, I think you will find that this remaster will be my most challenging work so far.

I've attached pictures of the new design for The Revenant. Consider this one a long-term project. Smaller projects will be released in-between this bigger one.

More information to come soon! Also, watch for the next couple of days for the next in the replacer series here on Patreon.

Have a great weekend,

HER UPDATED BACKSTORY IS HERE!!!

--------------------------------------------

The Curse of Karla Raven

It is said that the origin of this tale begins in the year 4E 98 in the area known as The Reach, in the province of Skyrim. During this time, a hero rose to popularity among the people. Her name was Karla Raven, a beautiful Breton spellsword trained by the greatest battle-mages of her time.

As Karla's fame grew throughout Skyrim, her rise caught the attention of a noble named Karso Felsword. Known to consort with the Forsworn, he was a corrupt thane who ruled lands that bordered the wild frontier. Karso approached Karla with lavish gifts, honorary titles, and an offer to rule by his side. She refused his advances, preferring the freedom of her adventures. Humiliated by her rejection, the thane vowed that if he could not possess the beautiful adventurer, no one would.

Upon returning home from one of her expeditions into Skyrim's ancient dungeons, Karla found her dwelling desecrated—the walls stained crimson with blood. Her parents and siblings lay mutilated, left as grisly examples for her discovery, along with a message written in Karso's own hand: "This is punishment for your insolence."

That day, Karla buried her family, taking time to mourn each of them properly. Then she took up her sword and sought their killer. As she approached his keep, she found it guarded by a host of Forsworn warriors. Strangely, they made no move to attack as she approached, instead gesturing for her to enter freely. Stalking through the corridors, she found Karso in his great hall, laughing and feasting with at least fifty of his followers.

Knowing how this would end, Karla began murmuring a powerful incantation under her breath as she approached the killer. She had discovered this particular magic in the deepest chambers of an ancient dungeon—a forbidden spell that would demand her very life as payment.

"Have you finally come to your senses?" Karso leered at the beautiful spellsword with obvious hunger. Karla completed the final verse of her spell, then met his gaze directly.

"You have taken everything from me, Karso Felsword. With my dying breath, I curse you, I curse these lands, and I curse all your men." Karso's lustful smile twisted into rage as he realized the woman had not come to surrender herself.

"It seems some refuse to know their place. Guards! Disarm this woman and drag her to the dungeons for my... later amusement."

As the guards approached, Karla raised both hands skyward and released her final spell. Purple flames erupted around her body in a wreath of otherworldly fire. The guards stumbled backward while Karso's eyes widened in sudden terror.

"I will avenge my family!" she cried as the violet flames grew brighter. "You and your descendants are cursed forevermore! No man here will escape my wrath! There will be no peace for you or your bloodlines!" The fire blazed higher as the woman within began to fade. "I will claim your souls and the souls of all you hold dear!"

Karla's scream echoed through the hall as the flames died, leaving nothing but charred stone where she had stood.

"By the Divines..." Karso stared at the blackened floor in disbelief, then looked around at his gathered men. Fear flickered in their eyes as they slowly backed away from the cursed spot. He forced a nervous laugh. "Well, that's not exactly how I planned to end the evening."

His men did not laugh. One by one, they departed into the night.

The disappearances began the following evening. On some nights, one man would vanish. On others, several. Their screams would echo through the keep's corridors until dawn. Many abandoned their posts entirely, fleeing to their homes in distant villages. Karso found no rest, his sleep plagued by nightmares of a pale, blood-soaked woman stalking him through his own halls. In every dream, she would corner him with a ghostly blade, striking him down again and again. He would wake screaming, clawing at wounds that existed only in his tortured mind.

On the thirteenth night, one of the few remaining servants glimpsed a pale woman with flowing white hair gliding through the keep, a spectral sword gleaming in her grasp. As the terrified servant fled, screams rang out for hours, echoing across the mountainous terrain.

It was weeks before anyone dared venture into Karso Felsword's keep. They found no trace of the living—only a pile of burnt ash in the thane's bed.

As I write this tale more than a century later, what remained of Karso's stronghold has long since been demolished and erased from existence, in hopes that his curse would die with it. Yet every night, the screams of dying Forsworn can be heard somewhere in The Reach, and stories of a ghostly woman claiming the souls of her enemies spread throughout Skyrim. When Reachmen are asked about her, they fall silent, draw their cloaks tight, and whisper:

"If you hear footsteps when you walk alone... if you see violet light where no flame burns... run. She has come for you."

What say you, dear reader? Do you scoff and move on? Or do you glance into the shadows and hesitate?

I'm currently in the middle of the story. I haven't moved on to something else, I want to know... Karla's behavior may seem confusing and intriguing... It's just fascinating... I think that with this new story in the works, I'll go take a look... Good courage !
