DragonCon Update
Added 2024-08-31 12:03:16 +0000 UTCYesterday was a long day. I wandered through PART of ONE of the buildings hosting the vendor halls. The sheer volume of nerdy, geeky, niche stuff is enough to stun a rhino. I kid you not. I also spent a couple hours hanging out at my publisher's table signing books and making it look like I have the extrovert gene. I grabbed some food with new friends.
Then, it was off to the Hyatt for the Fantasy Gather. It was a less formal meet-and-greet situation. I think I talked almost non-stop for close to two hours. I met some fans. I think I made a few new fans. I literally explained what cultivation was to some people. I also sold and signed some books. So, public relations mission was a success. I give myself 6.5 out of 10 for execution, but 10 out of 10 for not treating all those strangers like rabid animals I didn’t want to get near.
Yes. The introversion is strong in this one.
In a cool turn of events, I met the guys behind Royal Road. It was nice to get to thank them. After all, my career literally exists because of that site.
I didn’t hit up the bar, which was probably a mistake. In hindsight, I realize they almost certainly had water. Water would have helped a lot.
I did see a lot of cool costumes. I’ll see if I can paste a few in below.

I had no idea what cultivation was until I started reading this story. It opened a whole new world of stories to me.

I guess when I think about it theres prolly a huge chunk of the world that is entirely unfamiliar with the term. I work with adults who haven't read a single book in their whole lives after leaving school, after all. Ive known about cultivation since I was pretty young and have read soooo many stories involving it and the ten thousand variations on the concept that exist so it caught me off-guard for a moment when I read that you had to explain it to some people. That last photo looks like Jack Black
