Ever had this thing when you accidentally put your camera inside a character in any 3d game? And it looks horrifying - either floating eyeballs and teeth, or you see your character from inside like an empty tube, like an inflatable toy.
This always disturbed me a great deal, even though its technically how 3d models work, I never wanted the unprepared player to experience that. I feel it's important for our game, where we try hard to persuade the player that our creatures are living beings... Therefore, here is the camera effect you'll see if you get inside the character - darkness...

Of course, for gameplay reasons its best to not block the screen completely, that's why character fades and gives room for the players to see through.

If the camera rotates up when its close to the character - the effect is amplified, making it easier to scout around, similarly how it is many other third person games.
And of course, in case if you don't want character to be hidden, and prefer getting a major distraction right in your face every time you look up - your choice, its all going to be adjustable in the settings.
