The Path between Realities

A non-physical plane of existence, the Crossroads. It is a path that you need to take when transitioning from one level to another.

Each level is a fresh start of some sort, no items and inventory carries over to the new world, but all the acquired knowledge, unlocked species, and tech always remains with you. At least you get an easier start each new level, plus it opens up more opportunities to learn some additional knowledge that wouldn't be possible to acquire on the old levels.

The Crossroads can be accessed by going through the Gateway (it's the starting area of each level also) and while there, every player can always return back to the old explored levels, where inventory and the character will be kept until player's return... Perhaps with the new knowledge and technology you will be able to find some secrets that you were unable to discover before! ^^

While being in non physical planes like this one, you don't have a body, instead, you are just an energy manifestation of your pure consciousness. The bright glowing bundle of fundamental energy can take up any shape, for example, of the creature you were before entering the Crossroads.

PS: What do the spheres (ones that look like stars) and links between them remind you of? Except constellations! I'm curious if you can guess it :}
