Whiskey Wednesday
Added 2021-04-15 05:45:14 +0000 UTCYay!!! Today is my first Whiskey Wednesday after being fully vaccinated! This was definitely a cause for celebration 🎉. I decided to try a new bar inside Mandalay Bay called "1923 Prohibition". It's a fun little spot to have a cocktail and relax in a "speakeasy" setting. I got a kick thinking about what would happen today if the USA had prohibition in 2023. Can you imagine???
Anyways, it was so wonderful being out with friends and enjoying a drink and catching up. My first cocktail was the 1923 BARREL AGED OLD FASHIONED : Smoke Wagon Nevada Bourbon, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, Amaro Nonino, Cherry Bitters
I had never heard of Smoke Wagon Nevada Bourbon before. I guess they are just about a year old and out of Las Vegas. I will have to do my homework and do a tasting of the whiskey on it's own sometime in the near future!
My second cocktail was The Model T: Old Forester Bourbon, Benedictine, Cognac, Cointreau, Dashes of Angostura, Orange Peel Garnish
Out of the two, I preferred The Model T, but both were very tasty! This is a fun, little place to just grab a drink and relax. They currently have live music on Fridays and Saturdays with a New Orleans flair.
I'm feeling a bit giddy tonight and so grateful to have a some normalcy back in my life. I'm very happy to be able to go out and enjoy Las Vegas again and it's even better now that I get to share it with all of you!

2021-04-15 15:23:45 +0000 UTCI love Herbs & Rye. I tried to go everytime I'm in town. One of the few places in Vegas with classic cocktails from different eras. Plus it's a very good steakhouse with the retro atmosphere of old Vegas.

After all, gotta put what I learned from watching Dukes of Hazzard as a kid plus the current reality show “Moonshiners” to use one day.
