Hey there Agents!
Today we'll talk about update 0.3.1 for Silent Echo and also what is currently being worked on for Starwatch.
We already knew the addition of corruption levels 5 and 6 would be a huge undertaking, especially with the introduction of female scenes. The good news is that we've completed about 3/4 of the intended content, the bad news is we're also 3/4 into the development cycle as well.
In total we have already updated 20 sex scenes to support the new corruption levels for male and futa bodies. In a couple of cases, brand new animations were made to better match the current animation style.
On the fem side of things, we've completed 5 out of the 9 planned scenes for this update. At the moment we're focused on adding those related to combat encounters, so it means companions will not have many personal scenes with fem MC in this update. This is something we'll work through over the next updates of Chapter 3.
At the same time, we've started work on the Artifact Research wing and getting close to completing its introduction sequence. Just like for the Xeno wing, you will encounter a new trio of corrupted researchers.
Unlike their lustful counterparts in the xeno wing, Rayne, Morgan and Leona are all about pain and suffering. Altered by the xenomaterial to become the ultimate hunters, defeating them will not be an easy feat.
We've tried a couple of new things with this fight, with more emphasis on movement and visual effects, so we hope you will find that interesting.
With the new corruption levels eating almost the entirety of dev time in this patch cycle, I don't believe we will be able to add more content to the artifact wing. We will focus on it in the next update, version 0.3.2.
The work continues on this update and we've finished updating the new 0.4.0 content to the Silent Echo style storytelling.
We're also currently going through orientation week and have already updated most of it to the new format as well.
In addition, we're also making changes to statistics. Very early in development, we added a couple of statistics such as cunning, daring or even some secret statistics like gym related workout stats.
While there was an intent to make these statistics impactful, we've never really managed to make them work in any way that truly mattered. I believe accepting that something did not work out is a better way to look at this instead of commiting to it.
Acceptance is also a statistic that was meant to be impactful for the player's transition journey, should they have started one, but the reality is that as the lore developed, it is often stated the use of mods have become a completely normal aspect of this futuristic society.
In that spirit, we'll also be retiring this statistic as it no longer make sense and was a severe constraint for us when implementing TF content.
All in all, the only statistics we plan to keep is the morality ones to act as thresholds to unlock special actions in some contexts.
That's it for this week!
Have fun!
