The air crackled with tension as I dodged another one of Yuna's relentless attacks. Her fists swung with the power of a freight train, each one creating a deafening explosion as it collided with the ground—or whatever unfortunate piece of terrain happened to be in the way. Dust and debris filled the simulated battleground, and I was running out of places to hide.

"Stop running!" Yuna roared, her voice echoing through the crumbling landscape.

I laughed, more out of nerves than anything else. "Stop missing!" I shot back, phasing out just as her fist tore through the space where my head had been a moment ago.

Yuna's attacks were getting closer, her movements sharper and more calculated. She was learning, adapting. That would've been bad news if not for the fact that I had my own tricks up my sleeve. Every time she got too close, I'd disappear, phasing out of existence and taking a little piece of her with me.

At first, it was subtle—a small patch on her arm, a chunk of her leg. But as the fight dragged on, the holes in her body grew larger, gaping voids where flesh and bone should've been. She looked like a walking sculpture made of Swiss cheese, her figure riddled with empty spaces that somehow didn't bleed or cause her pain.

Still, she kept coming. Yuna wasn't just strong; she was stubborn as hell.

I darted to the side, narrowly avoiding another ground-shaking punch. "Yuna, come on," I called out, trying to reason with her. "This is getting ridiculous. Do you even realize what's happening to you?"

She paused for a moment, breathing hard, her one good fist trembling at her side. Her body was a patchwork of holes now, so deep you could see straight through them. And yet, she didn't even flinch.

Her eyes locked onto me, fierce and determined. "I know exactly what's happening," she said through gritted teeth. "And I don't care. I can't lose. I won't lose. My father's dojo—"

"Your father's dojo?" I interrupted, incredulous. "You're willing to rip yourself apart for some legacy? Yuna, this isn't worth it!"

"It is to me!" she shouted, stepping forward despite the fact that half her body was practically nonexistent.

I sighed, my breath ragged. I was exhausted too, but this was starting to feel cruel. "The only reason you're not feeling pain is because I'm holding it back," I said, trying one last time to get through to her. "You think you're invincible, but that's not the case. If I let go for even a second—"

"Save it!" she cut me off, raising her remaining fist. "If you want me to quit, then make me. Otherwise, shut up and fight!"

I shook my head, a mix of frustration and reluctant admiration. "Fine," I muttered. "But don't say I didn't warn you."

She lunged at me, her movements slower now but still carrying that raw, devastating power. I stepped to the side, letting her overextend, and in one fluid motion, I closed the gap between us.

"Sorry, Yuna," I said softly, and with a quick, precise strike, I aimed straight for her face.

The moment my fist connected, her head vanished. Just... gone. No explosion, no drama, just empty space where her face had been.

Her body froze mid-step, the momentum of her charge halting abruptly. For a moment, everything was still. The dust began to settle, and the battered battlefield around us started to dissolve, the edges of the simulation fraying as the Mindscape's systems wound down.

"It looks like I win," I said, my voice echoing in the void as the sparring match ended.

Reality came rushing back in a blur of light and sound. I blinked a few times, disoriented, before realizing I was back in the training room, sitting in my chair. The weight of the VR headset on my face reminded me of where I was.

I sat up, groaning as I pulled the headset off. My body was sore, and my head was pounding, but at least it was over. I'd won.

"Boom!"

The sound was deafening, and before I could even register what was happening, I found myself yanked out of my chair.

"What the—" I barely managed to get the words out before I was slammed against something solid.

I looked up, and my heart sank.

Towering above me, her face twisted in a furious scowl, was Yuna.

"Uh... hi," I said weakly, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own nervous sweating.

Yuna didn't say anything at first, just glared down at me, her massive hands wrapped around my torso like a vice. Her grip wasn't painful—yet—but the sheer size of her hands compared to my body was enough to make me feel like a bug about to be squished.

"What," she said slowly, her voice low and dangerous, "was that?"

I laughed nervously, trying to wiggle free, but her grip only tightened. "Uh, you know... just a friendly sparring match? No hard feelings, right?"

"No hard feelings?" she repeated, her eyes narrowing. "You erased my face, Cain!"

"Well, technically, I erased it temporarily," I corrected, holding up a finger. "Big difference. Your face is fine now, see?"

She wasn't amused.

"You didn't have to go that far," she growled, shaking me slightly for emphasis.

"Hey, hey!" I yelped, my arms flailing. "You're the one who wouldn't quit! I warned you like ten times, Yuna!"

Her glare softened slightly, but only slightly. "You still didn't have to make me look like a donut," she muttered, setting me down none too gently.

I stumbled back, catching my balance before straightening up. "Look, I'm sorry, okay? But you have to admit, I won fair and square."

Yuna crossed her arms, her scowl deepening. "You're lucky this was just a simulation," she said, leaning down so her face was inches from mine. "Next time, I'm not holding back."

"Next time?" I squeaked, already regretting every life choice that had led me to this moment.

She smirked, finally stepping back. "Yeah, next time. And trust me, Cain, there will be a next time."

As she walked away, I slumped against the nearest wall, letting out a long sigh.

"What did I get myself into?" I muttered, shaking my head.

But deep down, I couldn't help but smile. Yuna was scary as hell, sure, but at least she kept things interesting.
