Kaiju Heart Ch 19: An Unlikey Savor, The Mechanical Titan!

Flariona's looked down at the both of us, her eyes glowing a deep shade of blue as a massive hand came down at blinding speed and wrapped around Kaguya like she was a mere insect, her long, black-scaled fingers curling around Kaguya's body with frightening ease. The smile that spread across her face was slow, deliberate—like a predator savoring the moment before the kill. I could hear Kaguya's muffled cries as Flariona brought her closer to her face, her blue eyes glowing with a terrifying intensity.

"Kaguya!" I shouted, but it was useless. Flariona's attention was completely on her prey.

"Please! Let her go!" My voice cracked with desperation as I stumbled forward, though I knew there was no way I could reach her. The ground trembled beneath me with every subtle movement of the titaness, but I pushed forward, hoping, praying for some kind of miracle.

Flariona's gaze finally shifted down toward me, her burning blue eyes narrowing. A low growl rumbled through the air as she looked at me like I was nothing more than an insect at her feet.

"You should be grateful I'm not burning you to ash," she hissed, her voice vibrating through the air, shaking my bones. "Just like this."

Before I could even understand what she meant, Kaguya's screams cut through the air, sharp and filled with agony. Blue flames erupted around her body, swirling and crackling as Flariona's hand heated up. The heat was intense, the kind that made my skin prickle even from a distance, and Kaguya's pained wails were unbearable. Her body writhed in Flariona's grasp, squirming between the titan's fingers as the blue fire seared into her.

"No! Please, no!" I yelled, my heart pounding against my ribs as I watched in helpless fright.

Flariona's lips parted into a cruel smile, her mouth opening wide as she raised Kaguya higher, holding her directly above that cavernous maw. My legs buckled under me, and I fell to my knees, hands shaking as I screamed louder than I ever had before.

"Please, don't! Don't do this!"

But my words didn't matter. Flariona's eyes gleamed with sadistic delight as she released her grip, letting Kaguya fall.

Time seemed to slow, the sound of Kaguya's terrified cries blending with the rush of wind as she plummeted toward that abyss of burning blue flames below.

Suddenly, a deafening explosion rocked the air, sending a shockwave through the entire city. Flariona jerked back with a roar, thrown off balance by the blast. Her massive body slammed into the ground, causing the earth to shudder violently beneath me. I was thrown to the side, tumbling across the cracked asphalt as the wind from the explosion whipped past me.

"What the—?!" I managed to gasp, throwing an arm up to shield my face from the dust and debris kicked up by the blast. The entire world seemed to shake with Flariona's fall, the impact causing even more buildings to collapse and streets to fracture under her weight.

My heart pounded as I looked up through the chaos, trying to make sense of what had just happened. All I could think was one thing: Kaguya might still be alive.

I scrambled to my feet, chest tight with panic, scanning the wreckage for any sign of Kaguya. I didn’t see her fall—I hadn’t seen her at all since the explosion knocked Flariona back. But deep down, I clung to the faint hope that she was still alive, somewhere in this chaos.

Without thinking, I found myself moving toward Flariona’s massive body, her unconscious form sprawled across the ruined city like a fallen titan. Her skin—no, her scales—were as black as obsidian, gleaming under the flickering firelight. The heat coming off her was suffocating, but I didn’t care. I had an idea, a desperate, reckless idea.

I ran toward her leg, the enormous pillar of muscle and scale that lay before me like the side of a mountain. Each scale was massive, but uneven, jagged even. They jutted out at angles, forming perfect footholds and handholds for someone my size. I didn’t even stop to think about how insane it was to climb a kaiju. I just started.

The first few steps were shaky, my fingers slipping as I gripped the edges of those black, razor-sharp scales. But with each movement, I found my rhythm, using the scales like natural holds as I hauled myself higher and higher. The climb was brutal. My muscles screamed in protest, and the heat radiating from her body made my skin slick with sweat, but I couldn’t stop. Kaguya needed me. She had to be up there somewhere.

As I pulled myself to the top of her thigh, the world around me opened up, and I could finally see across the expanse of Flariona’s body. My heart nearly stopped.

There, lying motionless on her stomach, was Kaguya.

“Kaguya!” I shouted, but my voice was swallowed by the wind and the distant roar of fires still burning in the city below. I ran across the uneven terrain of Flariona’s body, my boots pounding against the ridges of her scales. Every step felt like a race against time. I had to reach her. I had to.

When I finally got to Kaguya’s side, I dropped to my knees, my hands trembling as I touched her. Her skin was burned, her clothes singed and tattered. The once-strong woman I knew looked so fragile now, her breaths shallow and weak. Her eyelids fluttered, barely conscious.

"My god, Kaguya..." I whispered, cradling her in my arms. The burns covered nearly every inch of her, angry red marks where Flariona’s flames had licked her body. Tears welled up in my eyes. I could feel her slipping away, and the helplessness was unbearable.

I gently held her closer, trying to comfort her, even though I knew it was pointless. My mind was racing, my heart pounding, but then something inside me shifted. As I looked down at her broken body, I glanced up at Flariona’s unconscious face looming in the distance, her features peaceful in a grotesque kind of way. My fists clenched, anger surging through me like fire.

This wasn’t just some natural disaster. This was a monster. That’s what kaiju were—monsters. I could see it clearly now. They weren’t just forces of nature. They were destruction and chaos incarnate. And we were just ants in their path.

As my anger simmered, something else caught my eye. In the distance, far off on the horizon, I saw something moving, something massive. My mouth fell open in disbelief.

It was a robot, towering over the buildings, easily as tall as Flariona, maybe even taller. It was a hulking machine, all sharp lines and gleaming metal, its right arm extended forward. At the end of that arm were rows of cannons, all aimed directly at the kaiju beneath me.

“What in the world is that?” I breathed, my voice barely audible as I stared at the giant metal colossus.

I had no answers, no way of processing what I was seeing. But I knew one thing: whatever that robot was, it had just saved our lives.

For now.
