Psylocke Vol 2 Ch 4: Meeting Between Giants

We walked through the biggest building I had ever seen, filled with massive people going about their business.

I couldn't stop looking around. It pretty much felt like I was a child in an amusement park. It was a lot fancier than I thought, filled with white marble floors and a beautiful front desk with a stunning Brob behind it.

"Amazing," I said, my mouth dropping all the way to the bottom.

I could hear Grace giggling behind me, probably because of the ridiculous face I was making.

Darcy walked past the front desk, giving a few waves with her free hand as she walked. We soon stood in front of an elevator, and with the press of a button, we were simply waiting for our lift up.

"We need to go to the 10th floor," Darcy said from above.

"This place is amazing," I said with a laugh.

"It should be," Breonia said, sitting cross-legged with her arms crossed. "This place is pretty much the nerve center of the whole city."

The elevator doors opened, and we stepped inside. As we ascended, I couldn't help but marvel at the smooth, silent ride.

I looked at Breonia. "How should I act around Ms. Helena Drake?"

Breonia's discomfort was obvious. Her usual stern expression had a hint of unease.

Grace, with a warm smile, gently kissed the top of my head. Her giant lips were soft and warm, their gentle weight a comforting presence. "Just be who you are," she said softly.

The elevator stopped, and Darcy continued walking through a long corridor filled with doors. Soon, we arrived at the end of the hall where two gigantic doors stood closed.

"We're here," Darcy said as she looked down at me and the two Gulliverians in her hand.

Darcy knocked on the door and waited until we heard a distant voice say, "Come in."

Darcy opened the door slowly. You know what? I was expecting a huge monster chamber, or maybe a golden throne with a titanic woman sitting on it, wearing a golden crown with a dozen jewels on top.

Yeah, I saw none of that. Instead, I saw a fairly well-decorated room that was wide and filled with pictures, medals, and certificates on the walls—only fitting for history's youngest King. Yet, looking beyond these things, I saw the woman in question sitting behind a wide wooden desk, doing paperwork. She had a military-style jacket, her sleeves were rolled up, and honestly, it seemed tight, especially around the chest area. She had short brown hair and looked beautiful.

"Darcy," Ms. Drake said with a smile, standing up from her seat. "You finally made it."

"Yep, with a few guests," Darcy said, raising us higher until we were at her face level.

"Yes, I see that," Ms. Drake said with a small smirk.

I sat down on a wooden desk that stretched in all directions, everywhere I looked I saw something bigger than me. Even a simple pencil or pen, or one of those utensil holders, all surpassed my size greatly.

Behind me sat Grace and Breonia, both towering over me, sitting cross-legged. Behind even them sat the even bigger Darcy, whose upper half was the only thing I could see as she sat in a chair.

Darcy was a sight to behold, as were Grace and Breonia, but I found myself unable to really pay attention to any of them. Right before my eyes sat someone who was more domineering than all of them: Ms. Drake herself, staring right at me with a small smirk.

"So, you are the new superstar," she said, her words booming.

I looked up. "Am I?" I asked with a small smile. It was the first time I had ever been called a super anything.

"Well, of course, after all, it's not every day we get a person with psychic powers around here."

"Oh yeah," I said, somehow forgetting that small fact about myself.

"But Ms. Saxon has powers," I said, looking at Breonia.

"Tell me, Breonia, how much have you told this little guy?" Ms. Drake asked.

I looked toward Breonia, wondering what she was keeping from me.

"Not much," she said with her arms crossed. "While he was with me, I decided to simply focus on his abilities."

"I see," Ms. Drake said, looking down at me again. "Well then, I guess it's up to me to do the honors."

"You see, Mr. Alderman, psychic power was discovered to be real since the 1980s, and since then, there have been very few people who have that power," Ms. Drake said. "In the UM alone, there are around 10 people who have this power, and it has been the UM's job to find as many as possible."

"Where does this power come from?" I asked. "Why do I have it?"

Ms. Drake leaned forward, her shadow casting me in darkness. "No one really understands why some individuals have this power and why others don't," she said. "Further study is ongoing, but if I understand correctly from the reports I've gotten from Breonia, it appears that you have much more powerful psychic abilities than we once expected."

I thought about the explosions of power that I experienced whenever I was in trouble, the power that went out of control as I raged.

The air began to rumble as Ms. Drake brought her face closer to me. Her breath washed over me as she looked down with her brown eyes.

"It's hard to believe that someone so small would have the ability to reach the realm of a true psychic," Ms. Drake said, her smile growing bigger.

"True what?" I asked, confusion mixing with curiosity.
